South Bend No. 300 Level Wind Vintage Reel/Box/instructions. Works great! used
You are looking at a really nice used South Bend level-wind fishing reel No. 300. In the pictures you can see this is an older reel. There is even the old style cloth line on it! The level wind works perfectly and the action is super smooth. I decided not to clean the reel or the box it came it. My Uncle used this reel quite a lot and it is meant to be used! I am really not sure of the actual age of the reel. But I do know it came from one of my Uncle's Sears Craftsman Ted Williams tackle boxes. He can no longer fish because of health reasons and my Aunt asked me to find new homes for his gear. Because he lives full-time in Homosassa Springs. Florida the reel may have been exposed to salt air and water. But since he did most of his fishing in freshwater I believe he only used it at his summer home near Flint, Michigan. Vintage SOUTH BEND No. 300 'ANTI-BACK-LASH' Model D LEVEL WINDING Casting Reel
Up for bid is one vintage casting reel manufactured by South Bend. No. 300 ANTI-BACK-LASH Model D. This reel is in very good condition. It measures 2-1/4" diameter, 3-7/8" deep including the handle, and has a foot measuring 2-7/16" long by 9/16" wide. On the bottom of the foot it has"MADE IN U.S.A. PATENTED" It has a 4:1 geared multiplier. The handle has plastic knobs. It has a clicker slide button on the rear plate, and a rotating knob on the front cover that controls the anti-back-lash. The crank side is engraved with"SOUTH BEND, Famous in Fishing" And still on the front plate is engraved"No. 300, SOUTH BEND, ANTI-BACK-LASH, MODEL D" The metal used for the front and rear plates appears to be Stainless Steel with chrome plated brass used for the foot, pillars, and handle.
