Meisselbach& Bro. of Newark. N.J. from 1909 to just after the sale of the company in 1917. Faceplate is stamped"FREE SPOOL"Takapart" 481" while the tailplate carries the five 1904-1909 Patent dates. Under the foot reads"A.F. Meisselbach& Bro. Newark, N.J. U.S.A. 100 YDS. Comes equipped with strong clicker, tension control, smooth-operating free spool function, counterbalanced handle with pyralin grip and a"take-apart" feature which allows one to completely disassemble the reel for servicing by simply unscrewing one or both of the endplate rings by hand. Vintage Meisselbach Takapart 480 baitcasting Reel
Vintage Meisselbach Takapart#480 reel This reel was made in The USA about 90 years ago and is in very good working condition. The gears. Cast control, click are very good. It seems to be missing a cap on the handle, however the handle is secured firmly. Its a well made solid reel and is a grade 8/8+. It weighs 8oz. and was designed primarely for freshwater fishing, and is the 100 yd. size. If you are not happy with an item returns are fine but the buyer pays shipping. The reels I sell are 98% used. And in between 20& 100 years old. Most are far from perfect, so I some times use the Orca grading system, the first no. is how it looks and the second how it works. Up for auction a somewhat uncommon CIRCA 1907 MEISSELBACH"TAKAPART" NON LEVEL-WIND UNUMBERED*TRANSITIONAL* CASTING REEL. These"transitional" models were produced by A.F. Meisselbach& Bro. of Newark. N.J. in 1907 and perhaps the early part of 1908. Unlike the numbered version of the Takapart(No.480) which would come later, these have the blank faceplate, while the tailplate carries the 1904 to 1907 Patent dates near the top and"TAKAPART Trade Mark" stamped near the bottom. Under the foot reads"A.F. MEISSELBACH& BRO. NEWARK, N.J. U.S.A. 100 YDS. This version is equipped with the"straight" spool shaft that is seen on the earliest models. Also comes equipped with strong clicker, tension control, a counterbalanced handle with what could be an earlier bone grip and a takeapart feature that allows ... morethe reel to be completely disassembled for servicing by simply unscrewing the end plate rings by hand. Reel is in solid Very Fine condition for these early models, showing only light to moderate wear that is mostly confined to the foot. Still displays beautifully. This auction is for a vintage Meisselbach Takapart fishing reel in used condition. It is marked 8 BRO and 80- 100 yards. The reel appears to be one of their earlier models as it also has a patent date stamped on the side of Nov 15-04 and June 20 05. The over-all condition is average to good with some minor chrome or nickel loss throughout the reel and minor blue paint on the handle. The drag does not appear to be working. This reel needs a good cleaning or could certainly be a great piece to be used for parts as it appears to be complete with all original parts. Neat old item to add to your vintage fishing. Auction is for a very clean. Scarce vintage used AF Meisselbach Takapart No. 482 bait casting fishing reel. Reel was made in Elyria. OH. Same as the Takapart 480 but the double knobbed handle gives this the number of 482. This 100 yard reel shows some light brassing on the knurled edges. Reel handle and handle nut, as well as portions of the tail plate. The reel mechanically works very smoothly and winds easily with a strong clicker. For sale is a used vintage AF Meisselbach Takapart round pillar fishing reel manufactured by Meisselbach& Bro in Newark NJ USA. This early round pillar reel. Has no markings on headplate or foot, and the top of tailplate is marked“Pat’d Nov 15-04 and June 20-05” and bottom of tailplate is“Takapart” Trademark. Knurling is on outside edge of rings. These were how markings for the Takapart 1906 Version was described in White’s book but was not noted as a round pillar reel. But he did not this was highly transitionary period for what would become the 480 series. This appears to be the 80 yard reel. The clicker is strong. And the handle is straight. This reel was made with nickel plated brass. The reel appearance shows some loss of surface chrome. General brassing, and minimal green corrosion between foot pillars, all visible on the photos ... moreprovided. The reel winds smoothly and spins easily. This is a tough reel to find from pre-1907. So even with less than optimal appearance, this is a nice reel for collectors of early Meisselbach bait casting reels produced at the time of such reels as Orvis, Vom Hofe, Pflueger and Shakespeare. Meisselbach No.480 Takapart 100 Yard Reel W/ BOX, Paper Circa 1907 Vintage
You are bidding on a Meisselbach 480 Takapart. A100 yard reel with box and paper. This is an early reel and box from 1907-08. The name" Takapart" and trade mark are stamped on the tail plate, the head plate has no markings, the last patent date is 1907 and the bearing cap on the tail plate is all chrome instead of having a brass center as the later reels do. The reel has a smooth spindle on the spool. The later reels have the ridge in the center of the spindle. Unfortunately a mouse chewed on the lid of the box. Still not an easy reel or box to find. Reel is as found. Should clean some See a full set of photos below. NOTE; The clicker does not work! Everything works as it should. Except as noted. The photos describe these better than I can Most of these look better than the photos. The photos I take are close. Magnified and bright ... morelights so you see every little detail.
