Vintage 4 Piece Sunnybrook Steel Fishing Rod w/ a Pflueger Akron 1893L Reel
Vintage Sunnybrook four piece hollow steel rod made by Union Hardware of Torrington Connecticut with a Pflueger Akron 1893L reel. The rod is approx 50 1/2" long with a cork handle. The rod is straight and has all the line guides with the red inserts. All line guides are still solid and not bent. The cork on the handle has a couple dents but still looks good. The cap on the end of the handle is missing the two small screws to hold it on so it is loose and can be pulled off. The rod does have some paint loss on it but overall looks good for its age. The reel is fully functional and cosmetically looks good with a couple small scrapes on it. NOTE- I will ship the rod unassembled and wrap all four pieces seperate in bubble wrap along with the reel.

Rare Vintage Baitcasting Level Wind Pflueger Akron 1893L fishing reel I am clearing out my collection of vintage level wind fishing reels. This particular reel was made in Akron. Ohio USA. I will try to describe the“ look and feel” of the reel to the best of my knowledge. I will provide clear pictures with magnification turned on for your inspection. My Inspection of reel When I turn the handle the reel operates very well. The handle knobs are free. The spool. Line guide, worm gear, and drag all work well. Clicker button engages and dis-engages properly. Clicker is loud. This reel is complete no missing parts. Cosmetics: Minor scratches. The spool. Side covers, and foot are all are very clean. As you inspect reel you can see I have not made any modification. Disassembled or cleaned this reel in any way. This is the way I bought it. Please ... morenote I am not the original owner; I picked this one up from an auction awhile back. Paid too much of course. My loss can be your gain! Up for bid is one vintage PFLUEGER AKRON No. 1893L Level Winding Casting Reel w/3.5:1 Multiplier. This reel is in very good condition. It has no signs of use. It measures 2" diameter, 3-15/16" deep including the handle, and has a foot measuring 2-1/2" long by 9/16" wide. The foot is attached using Prince and Reed screws. Which dates it from the mid-thirties or newer. On the bottom of the foot it is inscribed with"B" There is a clicker controlled by a slide button on the rear plate and a second rotating button on the front plate controls drag or back-lash. The reel appears to be nickel or chrome plated brass. The spool appears to be aluminum. On the front plate it has inscribed"Pflueger. AKRON, TRADE MARK, No. 1893L, MADE IN U.S.A. On the back plate it is inscribed with"PATENTED" It is in excellent ... moreworking condition. The plating is in very good condition. Both the front and rear bearing caps are jeweled and in good condition. The reel appears as though it was never used. There are no marks on the foot indicating it was attached to a rod. It is said that this reel was purchased before the war and used very little.It was common for him to send in his reels for maintainence after 10-20 years. The box shown is the one this reel was found in and bears the proper notations for a factory"REPAIRED FISHING REEL" box. Unknown when this"repair" was done but it was unused since it was sent back to him. While used. This reel is in great shape with all engraving sharp and crisp including the logo, model#s and patent. Minor wear, minimal brassing, some minor scratches in the chrome finish. Great addition to your collection. When this reel is cleaned it should look awesome. This reel does not need repaired or lubed. It works great as is. These reels are in great condition for their age. I think with a little cleaning and lube they would work like new. Notice that the crank handles are still in great condition. I can not guarantee the function of every switch button or dial but I think most everything seems in good working order as they sit. Awesome old Pflueger Akron Model 1893L LW ABL Casting Reel in Original Box! Gorgeous reel! Appears to be unused! I'm not going to go into all of that he said she said great this great that stuff. Reel looks and WORKS like NEW! Comes in a crisp sturdy original 2 piece box. Has tear in corner of label. Box also tells us reel was made in July of'63. Also includes paper insert. Vintage Pflueger Akron No 1893L Level Wind Casting Fishing Reel
A vintage Pflueger AKRON No. 1893L level wind casting reel made in United States. Reel works smooth with clicker on or off. The reel is in nice used condition. The handle side has pitting in chrome plating that shows base brass metal, see photos 4& 5. A very useable reel for the vintage bait or lure casting enthusiast.
