As I continue this winter. Digging out the stuff I accumulated all summer, I came across this reel in a box. I checked with the old fellow I got it from, and he confirmed he did buy it for the price shown on the tag, at the establsihment in Peoria Illinois, and that is the box it came in. I tild him these old reels, while really neat to use and very nice machinery, do not command a lot of respect these days. But he gave me the thumbs up to see if we can peddle it. Vintage Old PFLUEGER AKRON 1895 - Casting Reel Collectable Tackle Display Clean
Item is used. The crank might be from a different model Pflueger. Or maybe it was an extra that came with it- not sure. When I got it, it had already been cleaned up, have only used it as display. It does show signs of past use- there are surface scratches on tail plate and head plate, a couple small dings, 1 on the crank screw/ button, another on the oil cap. There is also a small area of boat rash on the top rim/ edge of the head plate, and some marks, discoloring on pillars. There may be other small imperfections, please see detailed pics. BUY-IT-NOW. A Vintage Pflueger Akron#1895 Fishing Reel. The reel measures 2 1/2" x 4"handle span is 4" CONDITION: Please examine the photos closely.I am not a collector. So I wouldn't know if all parts are original, but they appear to be. It has a"jewel" at each end, pretty etched designs, and marble looking grey plastic handles. When you turn the handle, it goes click click click and the line feeder moves from side to side. I have not attempted to clean any of the reels that I am selling.
