Classic Portage Sentrie Nickel Plated Non-Levelwind Casting Reel Jewelled Caps
This vintage reel is in good condition cosmetically. Very good mechanically. There is some plating loss and wear and the reel could use a good cleaning. The head plate is stamped"SENTRIE/PORTAGE/TRADE MARK" and has the Portage trade mark image of a man with a canoe on his back under a setting or rising sun-you pick it. The tail plate has a friction drag button and an on/off click button. Both end caps are jewelled. The bottom of the foot is stamped"60" The counterbalanced crank has an ivoroid handle. Has a"Kant-Lash" Crank handle,not sure how this style works but very different and not sure if this was a Shakespeare item or just a sort of up grade type handle back then. Side plates of this reel are made of aluminum,the rest stainless steel. I am thinking a mid to late 1950's reel? Has some nicks on side plates,no rust or corrosion. The model GE dates this reel to 1946. This reel is in very good condition cosmetically. Good mechanically. Everything works fine EXCEPT that there is a hitch in the levelwind mechanism that hangs it up on the right hand side, needs attention. There is a strong on/off click button on the tail plate. The bottom of the foot is stamped"MADE IN U.S.A.PATENTED" This is a finely crafted reel.
