The plating is in good condition with some brass showing on the bearing caps and the two slide buttons on the rear cover and some on the edge of the front and rear plates(see photos) There is a clicker controlled by a slide button on the back plate and adjustable drag control through a second slide button on the rear plate. The drag control is uneven as the reel turns and does not work as smoothly as it should. It is in fair working condition. The handle appears to have a wood knob. On the front cover it is marked with" Favorite" And on the bottom of the foot it is marked with"200" There is a scratch on the front cover about 1/2" long. It measures 2-11/16" diameter, 4-3/16" deep including the handle, and has a foot measuring 2-7/8" long by 11/16" wide. It weighs 1 pound 1.8 ounces, with packaging it will ship below 2 pounds. German Silver HORTON BLUE GRASS SIMPLEX No. 25 Casting Reel
Horton Mfg. Co. Bluegrass Simplex No. 25 casting reel. Featuring german silver construction, non-level wind action, double handle, back plate mounted clicker button, and takapart style construction. Face plate is marked No. 25 Blue Grass Simplex- The Horton Mfg. Co. Bristol, Conn. There is also a capital letter I on the bottom of the foot. The Horton stamp on the face plate looks dark, almost like it was an extra hard stamp. Reel is in very nice shape as seen in the pics and is mechanically excellent with super smooth action- the handle spins forever- and a strong clicker. For sale is a very nice vintage J A Coxe No. 25-2 bait casting reel with its leather carrying case. It is my understanding that this reel was manufactured prior to the acquisition of the J A Coxe Reel Co. Of Bronson, Michigan by the Bronson Reel Co. The Model 25-2 reels are German silver with dual ivory handles. The reel is completely original and in excellent cosmetic condition. Mechanically the reel has a strong clicker. Smooth line guide and very smooth turning handle. The foot of the reel is stamped with the following: PAT. 1920's Heddon Dowagiac Jack Welch Design 3-25 Kentucky Style Casting Reel w/box
2"x 2"1/8 x 2"1/4 The reel fits into the palm of your hand. All the parts are there and the reel functions beautifully. Has some light surface scratches and some pitting on the mounting horn. The box had to saved by taping. Found an old receipt inside the box showing maintenance and serial# 1175. HAPPY BIDDING!
