Nice old Pflueger SKILKAST#1953 LW ABL Casting Reel w Box and More. Nice clean reel. And works great! Smooth spinner, strong click and brake, line guide travels fine, cork arbor, beautiful knobs spin freely, spare pawl in head cap. Some surface scratches in Diamolite finish, especially on head cap. See photos for complete cosmetic condition. Neat thing about this reel is the extra screw(factory placed? in the head cap at around the 1 o'clock position. I have seen, and have other Pfluegers with this extra screw. I dont know why its there. It doesnt seem to be an extra replacement screw since it doesnt match either of the other 2 types of screws. This was made in the USA and features an all metal construction with bacalite handles and a cork interior. Cork is in good condition with very little wear. This is a great looking reel very retro looking. Would look great mounted on a wall or displayed on a shelf. Has many years of good fishing left on it. Good condition. VINTAGE PFLUEGER SKILKAST FISHING REEL No. 1953 Level Wind. Mechanical Thumber All metal with side wheel winder and uncommon for fly fishing reels(particularly auto fly reels) This is a level wind. When you trip the lever and rewind the line back onto the reel the horizontal bail moves up and down getting the line on evenly. This one belonged to a friends father, who says this works perfectly with loading and rewinding. With a strong spring and bail. Good Condition all around.

Up for sale is a vintage Pflueger Skilkast Number 1953 Fishing Reel. I purchased a large lot of vintage and antique fishing lures and reels from an estate sale. The reels are all in fair to good working condition. They all could use a cleaning and oiling. And some have minor wear and tear and slight corrosion or rust. Due to the fact that these are not my personal collection of reels, I will say that some of the reels may potentially have been repaired in the past or have some not original parts. Some are in better condition than others. Any obvious damage will be highlighted in the pictures. Vintage Pflueger Skilkast No. 1953 Casting Reel for bass & fresh water fishing
Up for auction is a recent estate find. This is a vintage Pflueger Skilkast No. 1953 made in the USA casting reel that has been used( it's 60 years old) but is in excellent condition. There are a couple of scuffs and a little bit of rim rash from use but other than that it is as pictured.The reel functions properly and is a nice clean reel to collect or use. All I did was clean the outside a bit for pictures( you can still see some of the grease on the outside of the reel) but it could use a thorough cleaning and lubrication. This nice reel style retains the cork spacer over the metal spool. There is a"B" stamped on the bottom of the reels foot and the side plate says"Patented, Pat's Pend" Good luck bidding on this nice collectible little casting reel. Nice old Pflueger Skilkast Modle 1953 LW ABL Casting Reel in Original Box& More! Recently serviced! Looks and works great! Smooth and quiet spinner. Strong click, spare pawl in head cap, gorgeous knobs turn freely, line guide travels with out a hitch. Mechanical thumber"brake" works perfectly. Reel shows some light wear/use. Comes in sturdy 2 piece box. Box shows great with light wear. Label in very nice shape. Um, ignore the 12.50 written in pen on box bottom. That's just the stocking number and not the price!
