The line guide, worm gear, and pawl all tracks back fourth properly. Clicker button engages and disengages properly. The knobs on the handle are free to turn. The reel is complete no missing or broken parts. Reel looks used. Minor scratches. Comes from a smoke free environment. Pflueger introduced the NOBBY model in January. 1935 and described it as having"an attractive color on the frame. I have heard collectors refer to a"blue" NOBBY but have never seen one myself. I believe it actually may have been a blued finish. In any case, this one is VERY early, and as far as I can determine, an example of the first model. Very nice old Pflueger Nobby 1963 LW ABL Casting Reel with Box and More! Looks great. Works even better! This reel was one nasty lump of dirt and grease destined for a box in the back of the closet. Recently serviced and she turned out beautiful! Super smooth and quiet spinner, jeweled caps in great shape, strong click and brake, grease door is not seized, spare pawl in head cap(raised screw) line guide travels like silk, large front facing pawl screw, patent numbers on tail plate, slotted screws attach the foot. Early translucent knobs spin freely and are gorgeous! Satin finish with the Diamolite trim. The correct 2 piece box is sturdy but shows some wear and soiling. This is a Pflueger NOBBY#1963 bait casting reel cir 1932. Other than normal use ware. There are no cracks,chips or missing parts. Also There is a vintage reel case stamped 20-S. Although this reel was in this case when I purchased this at auction, and does fit well, it may not be the case for this reel. Estate sale find! Up for auction is a vintage Pflueger No. 1963 Nobby fishing reel. It seems to be fully functional(bail moves. Drag turns on& off, etc. It was a little dirty when I found it but it cleaned up well. It reels okay but could probably benefit from a good internal cleaning and oiling. It is ornately engraved and has dark ivory-colored marbled handles(but I believe they are plastic or bakelite) It also comes with the original corded line. Cosmetically, it is in good condition with signs of use and age, but no significant defects. This nice old reel would make a great addition to any collection. Unused except for scuff marks around small knob on the handle side. You can see it in the last picture. Mechanically the reel works great. Has the original shelf tag still attached. The box is in great shape. The manufacture date on the bottom says 8-47! Comes with reel brochure, wrench, spool expander, extra cub handle and gear grease in its own box. You are bidding on a classic Pflueger bait cast reel. No. 1963, in working condition. Reel is right-handed design. The reel clicker and reel pawl(Pawl ensures that line spools evenly onto the spool) all are in working order. No issues. Crank works fine with clicker on or off. All screws and screw caps are present. No missing parts. Grease hub is marked with the word"GREASE" embossed on the screw cap. Bakelite handles are translucent yellow with ivory swirl. Reel measures approximately 4 inches Wide X 3 inches Long X 2 inches Tall. Weighs about 6.2 oz. A great shadow box. Tough Pflueger Nobby 1963 LW ABL Casting Reel in Original Box. I haven't serviced this reel but it works great! Smooth and quiet spinner. Knobs turn freely, strong click, good brake, line guide travels smoothly, jeweled end caps. Cork arbor. The box is stamped 1941. We know this is an early Nobby because of the patent numbers on tail, the raised spare pawl screw, and the large screw holding pawl on line guide block. Also the black and white paper insert. Plating is missing on some of the parts. Not sure if that is the original crank. Grease door not seized and spare pawl in head cap. Nice old Pflueger Nobby Model 1963 LW ABL Casting Reel. Recently serviced! Looks and works great! Super smooth and quiet spinner. Strong click and brake, spare pawl in head cap, grease door not seized, knobs turn freely, line guide travels with out a hitch, jeweled end caps. This version with the nylon the nylon spool was produced for one year in the late 40's. Neat idea, corrosion resistant, large arbored to save on backing, light weight, but could warp, especially in high heat. This spool is straight as an arrow. Aluminum end plates. Shows some wear/use.
