This is an older JC Higgins Casting Reel. Both ends are etched with pictures of fish. The one end also is etched: JC Higgins 537.3103. It is marked on the part that goes up against the fishing pole: Pat. App. For- Made in U.S.A. There is a piece chipped out of the one plastic covering over the crank but otherwise it is in excellent condition. It is in great working order. The drag and the line feed is fine. It comes in the original box and the Care and Use guide. The buyer will pay shipping according to their zip code and weight of the package. Delivery confirmation is included in the shipping amount for the US. The reel on the left in the picture is a"Minuteman 1810" made by Horrocks Ibbotson Co. of Utica, NY and it has some corrosion on one plate and one of the knobs on the reel handle is bent. The second reel was made by JC Higgins and it does have some paint loss. Both reels need a good cleaning and some lubrication. Both reels were made in the U.S.A. Vintage JC Higgins 100 Bait Casting Reel
This is a wonderful example of an early JC Higgins"100" bait casting reel. The model number is 537.28820. This reel is not new but is in remarkably good condition and works beautifully. Level wind and retrieve are very smooth. I have seen quite a few of these old reels but never one that had bright green handles. This reel really shines and aside from a small area of wear below the cross hatch engraving on the frame this is a great collector's piece or to put back into service.

Box wear and crease folds to the manual. The handles composition are difficult to identify and almost appear to be porcelain over brass. But I can't say for sure and would rather not perform a scratch test to verify. The reel is in very good working condition and has the original nylon line still on it!
