Vintage Zebco Casting Reel Pat Pending Standard Reel With Box
This auction is for a rare Zebco Casting Reel It does not have a model number. It is stamped Pat Pending. It comes with the original box. I have included some history below as to no model number being on the reel or box. THE WORLD'S FIRST SPINCAST REEL When R.D. Hull was searching for an investor for his"reel that wouldn't backlash. he came across a company in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the Zero Hour Bomb Company, which was looking for a way to shore up the business as the market was dwindling for their main product, electric time bombs for fracturing oil wells to produce more oil. This meeting between Hull and the Zero Hour Bomb Company would change fishing forever. In May of 1949. The maiden reel was in production. Called the"Standard, it was given the model number: 1. This reel was manufactured from 1949 until 1954 in three different ... moreiterations: The"1A" model was built between 1949 and 1951 and is noted by its black spinner head. The"1B" model was built in 1952 and had a red spinner head. The"1C" shown here) model was built 1953 through 1955 and had a tan spinner head. To use this reel. The angler would press and hold the button located on the top of the reel, then at the release of the cast, let go of the button. To engage the gears and pick up line. The angler pressed inward on the handle prior to retrieve. The reel also included an audible clicker that could be engaged with the button on the side of the reel. This would provide a clicking sound to signal when a fish had taken the bait.

I found this at an estate sale and just passing it along. This is a vintage Meisselbach" Tripart 580" casting reel in pretty good shape given it's age. Measures 2 3/16' wide with a diameter of 2" All mechanical functions work well with no issues. The reel comes apart[ both side plates unscrew] and I opened the sides up to look inside. It's clean and all there but needs a good lubrication. The last patent date registered says Aug 3 1909. If not happy then send it back for a full refund. Thanks for looking and good luck.

Antique fishing reel made by Abbey& Imbrie. Patented Jan 17, 1882, style#207. The finish is a white metal probably nickel over brass. The finish is good considering the age(possibly over 130 years) with little wear. The diameter of the reel(independent of screws and black handle) is 2.5 inches, with a depth of 2 inches. The attachment bar is 2.5 inches. the mechanism is fully functional. When first patented, this reel cost $8.75. The line is twisted cord. The handle side shows the brand and patent date. Early hendryx reel. This little beauty is made of brass and like many old reels it has raised pillars. This reel is clearly marked hendryx and 2 pat dates mar 21 1887. July 10 1888. Also it has the number 40 on the back off the reel seat. You can see all of this in the pictures.
