Gorgeous South Bend 1000 Model G LW ABL Casting Reel in SBT Co Repair Box. What a find with provenance! Recently serviced and the reel looks and works like new! Well. Almost. There is slight wear to the crank handle and the"brake" material must have hardened over the years and it"squeaks" against the spool unless its tightened further. Oh, and a slight bend to the upper bail wire. Minor stuff, but I don't want any"surprises" when you inspect your reel. SO the smooth this, strong that, great whatever goes with out saying. Has the"Y" line guide, cork arbor, and the OVAL LOGO on head plate. Comes in a 2 piece repair box addressed to good ol' Chuck Woodrick from the windy city. The paper invoice is also included and addressed to the same gentleman. Remember type writers? High tech in the 50's! ... moreWhatever repairs were completed cost Chuck $3.35. You couldn't even SHIP that reel these days for that much! Looks like the postage on the box reads 23 cents but its very faded and hard to see. Check out all the pics for complete cosmetic condition. Up for auction is a recent estate find. This is a vintage South Bend No. 1000 anti back lash casting reel. This level wind casting reel is a Model G. As seen on the side plate. Everything on the reel functions properly but it could use a good cleaning and lubrication. I only cleaned the outside for pictures. Please see the pictures for the actual condition of this nice old reel( circa 1940s) as I tried to capture every angle! This model has a"Made in USA Patented" bottom of the reel foot and is in nice condition to either use or display as a vintage casting reel. As noted above there is a chip.
