For you consideration is a Abu Ambassadeur 5000. The reel is bright.Clean and sharp. Although I cannot date the reel precisely it is undoubtedly an early example, with the all paperwork dated 1962 and serial number 298290 and the deep red color. mechanically no problems. The brown leather case has the"Ambassadeur of Sweden" logo and brass clasp. It is in overall very good condition. Included is the oil bottle(empty) Spanner and spares/service kit with the usual array of spare parts and brake blocks. It is embossed with 5000 on the lid. There is also a 23 page booklet. This is a older bait casting reel. Abu Ambassadeur.5000 Made in Sweden. Right Handed. This reel appears to be in fair togood condition but has a lot of wear. I pulled some of the line off and it spins just fine. When the button is pushed down it will stop letting line out, and the line guide goes back and worth as it should. Included with this reel is a vintage zipper abu Garcia leather case, that is in fair condition.The zipper still zips and there are no rips, but has a lot of wear. Outstanding quality"ABU AMBASSADEUR NO. 5000" BAIT CASTING REEL, still in very good overall condition from back in the 1970s era we'd guess, consisting of red anodized side-plates held apart by four(4) chromed brass pillars, with two(2) attached to clearly serials(number 854264) reel foot, with the shrouded, level-wind mechanism running on a brass worm gear at front side of course, moving as the handle is turned, with 1" wide spool with 3/4" dia. alloy arbor turning on counter-balanced, double-end finger grip handle with"Oil" marked hex-nut on top.See Photos) Left side-plate has the ABU Svangsta cost-of-arms at front side as you'd expect, plus has"ABU Ambassadeur" logo on side-plate above the chromed pool end cover at center, and has"No.5000" AB-Urfabriken Svangsta" ... moreon lower edge. Opposite side has the 3 1/4" OAL, twin finger-grip handles of black rubber, with star drag just below on stem, and dial type(more/ less) cast control a bit towards back edge as well, but is otherwise un-marked, as are the upper rim bands. As noted, the chromed brass reel foot carries the original factory serial number on this vintage beauty(probably indicating rather early production& import we'd guess) Condition is still very good overall with NO dings, dents, gouges, or broken/ missing parts. The red anodized side-plates look very good, as do the inside of the rims& spool. The upper pillar does show some insignificant"freckling" flea bites as you'd expect from light use long ago. but that's about it! Functions exactly as designed still: the spool turns freely. The star drag is quite functional, both end caps are in place& right side works as designed to dampen spool over-run when casting baits of varying weight, and the red side-plates are about 99.9% still. Very good looking Reel still. And quite functional for angling use of course, though a competent reel smithy should probably have this vintage beauty apart f

Abu Ambassadeur 5000 Right Handed Bait casting Reel Red Excellent Condition
Selling this for a friend and have no idea about it. She said it came off a Garcia fishing pole with the same brand. Please ask questions before bidding or correct me if the post is wrong in any way! But what I've seen on ebay this one looks identical to most of them. From their listings it looks like a right handed but could be wrong! On the bar it has the numbers 790305 with a dot pattern around it. The two zeros look a little faded. From what I've read the first two numbers are the year it was produced. So 1979. The front has the brand"ABU SWEDEN" engraved and then"Ambassadeur 5000" looks to be a sticker or plate. Has a silver Crest next to the dial that might have Lions in them. Has string on it. The dial turns and has numbers 0-9. The reproductions have the number 7 with a different font. This has the original ... more7. The reel handle turns and clicks when it sounds. Has black knobs. Looks like a few have white or black that are shaped differently. The Acorn looking nuts have more of a squared pattern rather than Diamond leading me to believe it's an original too. Not the 4 screwed version looks like it at first but one isn't a screw just a silver piece. The item is used and a little dirty. There are scuffs on the faces on the red. Looks to be in great condition though! The one that looked similar to mine was priced around $79 but am starting a lot lower as I don't know how much these were or are worth! Cheers!

This would make a great piece to add to one collection as the vintage reels are getting harder and harder to come by. I have added bearings for the spool axle. Garcia Sweden ABU Ambassadeur 5000 Bait Casting Reel / NR
This is a vintage fishing reel marked on the reel seat 185569. One of the side plates is has the Sweden logo with ABU Ambassadeur No. 5000 AB. Urfabriken Svangsta Sweden. It is lightly etched with the initial E P which could be the initials of the previous owner. This level wind fishing reel has a star drag and everything seem to work okay. There are a few spots of paint at the edge of the sides but nothing that really takes away from the appearance. The overall condition is very good. Offered for sale is a Vintage Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5000 bait casting reel found a recent estate sale in my area. SUPER NICE CONDITION! Clean. Smooth and everything works great! The metallic red paint is still very shiny with only a couple flea bite size marks on the very top edges The reel was found complete with Ambasadeur leather case and parts vial. Oiler, and reel wrench. The leather case is very clean and in fine condition-very minimal scuffing from storage The footplate on the reel is stamped with the number 684455. The side plate is stamped ABU Ambassadeur No. 5000 AB.URFABRIKEN SVANGSTA SWEDEN I think this reel must have been used some- it must have been very little the reel is so clean.
