Up for bid is one vintage PFLUEGER AKRON No. 1893L Level Winding Casting Reel w/3.5:1 Multiplier. This reel is in very good condition. It has no signs of use. It measures 2" diameter, 3-15/16" deep including the handle, and has a foot measuring 2-1/2" long by 9/16" wide. The foot is attached using Prince and Reed screws. Which dates it from the mid-thirties or newer. On the bottom of the foot it is inscribed with"B" There is a clicker controlled by a slide button on the rear plate and a second rotating button on the front plate controls drag or back-lash. The reel appears to be nickel or chrome plated brass. The spool appears to be aluminum. On the front plate it has inscribed"Pflueger. AKRON, TRADE MARK, No. 1893L, MADE IN U.S.A. On the back plate it is inscribed with"PATENTED" It is in excellent ... moreworking condition. The plating is in very good condition. Both the front and rear bearing caps are jeweled and in good condition. The reel appears as though it was never used. There are no marks on the foot indicating it was attached to a rod. Up for bid is one vintage Hard Rubber& Nickel Plated Brass casting reel manufactured by MONTAGUE. 60 yard line capacity. This reel is marked with a model name on the face plate. It is very very faint. It starts with T and has two rows, the second row appears to be'CASTING REELS' I believe it may be a'TRIBUNE CASTING REEL' by Montague, but have not been able to locate a picture to compare it to. This reel is in good condition. It measures 2-1/4" diameter, 3-5/8" deep including the handle, pillars are 1-5/8" long, and has a foot measuring 2-9/16" long by 9/16" wide. On the bottom of the foot is inscribed"60" It has a 3.5:1 geared multiplier. It has a clicker slide button on the rear plate, and a drag slide button also on the rear plate. The reel turns freely and everthing seems to work okay on the reel except for the clicker, it moves freely but doesn't engage. 1800s Vintage B.C. MILAM No. 3 Casting Reel - Frankfort KY - German Silver
B.C. Milam No. 3 casting reel. This classic 1800s vintage reel features a half handle mounted at the 6 o'clock position. Face plate mounted click and brake, german silver construction, full length foot, and a single bead of knurling round the face plate rim. The face plate is marked B.C. Milam- Frankfort KY- No. 3 with a single dot by the number 3. The bottom of the foot is marked with four dots. The serial number 6236 is found on the bottom inside of the back plate. The reel is in nice cosmetic condition showing some minimal overall wear from use, with one replaced screw at the top left position on the face plate. Mechanically the action is smooth, the brake is good, and the clicker is strong when cranking forward, but weak when cranking backward. A great old Kentucky reel offered with a minimal opening bid and no reserve!

1800s Vintage MEEK & MILAM No. 3 Casting Reel - Frankfort, KY - German Silver
Meek& Milam No. 3 casting reel. This classic 1800s vintage reel features a half handle mounted at the 12 o'clock position. Face plate mounted click and brake, german silver construction, full length foot that has been very neatly filed to fit a rod seat, and a double bead of knurling round the face plate rim. The face plate is marked Meek& Milam- Frankfort KY- No. 3 with a single dot by the number 3. The reel is in pretty nice cosmetic condition showing some mild from use, all original. Mechanically the action is super smooth, the brake is good, and the clicker is strong when cranking backward, but weak when cranking forward. VINTAGE ABU AMBASSADEUR 5000A CASTING REEL, EARLY 3-SCREW VERSION W/CASE
This no-reserve auction features a classic red ABU Ambassadeur 5000A casting reel with the highly desirable and hard to find large capacity spool. Bearing serial number 936711 on the bottom of its smooth foot. This is an early three-screw Ambassadeur, likely having been made at the renowned Svangsta, Sweden factory in the mid to late 1960s. Better yet, this reel wasn't used much and is in solid excellent-plus condition, showing only a few tiny, superficial pin-prick type marks on the rims of its side-plates. They are very shallow, though, and do not pass through the red anodized finish. Accordingly, on a tough scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate this reel a 9.5. Unfortunately, I do not have a case for this one, but as the pictures show, it's a very nice, little used reel. The other chrome one has light wear, but still nice condition, and the brass one shows the most wear, and the gear on the brass one has surface rust on the face. Vintage Wheeler& McGregor No. 3 Casting Reel made in Milwaukee. WI is in excellent condition. The reel turns freely and the click works fine. The Wheeler McGregor reel is a very scarce reel and is recognized amongst collectors as the first commercially available casting reel with a level wind mechanism. The company received two patents in May 29, 1894 and in June 26, 1894. The reel is nickel plated brass and has retained its plating over the years. The reel is scarce, and when found, usually has a lot of the plating missing. This one is an excellent example of this historically important reel. See photos for condition.
