Vintage Antique Leather Split Woven Willow Wicker Fly Fishing Creel Basket VGC
Up for auction is a very nice split willow and leather fishing creel from early 1900's. The only real issue I see with this piece is the leather closure strap is broke. Although it is present and will be included for possible repair. Otherwise the basket is tight with little to no damage. The leather on the rest of the creel looks to be in very good condition as well. Slight discoloration inside on the bottom which just gives it credibility. Good luck.

Vtg Antique Wicker Fishing Creel Leather Trim Fly Fishing Basket Shoulder Strap
This auction features a Vintage Wicker with Leather trim Fishing Creel. I don't know the age of this basket. Looks to be fairly old to me. The basket is primarily wicker with leather trim and a canvas shoulder strap. The shoulder strap does not connect to one side, bit is present. The leather does have some dark marks and is cracked in several places. Please check out the photos. The buckle over the top will not hold since leather can been cut short. The top wants to stay open but I think can be trained to stay closed again. The handle has significant wear and the leather has worn off in spots. The top flap of the basket does have a measuring ruled on the leather. Please check out the photos, I have take a lot to capture all the wear on this basket. Has an embossed ruler along the back edge of the top for measuring your catch. No maker's mark that I can see. The end part of the strap that buckles the top closed is missing. This old fishing basket is a larger one.16" long and 9" high, 5" deep without the leather pocket. There is hand sewing on it, with leather trim. It looks to be very old and is in rough condition in places, as shown in my pictures. The shoulder strap is missing, the leather handle is there, but torn some from the basket.It was hard to strap closed, due to stiffness and part of the strap missing. It's in need of leather oil. But still a nice piece for decorating, or in the garden, etc.

Antique Trout Fly Fishing Wicker Creel w/ Metal& Leather Fish Latch& Shoulder Strap Best age guess on this would be mid-1930’s– mid- 1950’s. This vintage trout fishing creel is made of wicker. It stands about 8 ½” tall x 13” wide at the bottom and 10” wide at the top x 5 ½” front to back. Lid has an opening for fish. Opening measures about 1 ¾” wide x 2 ¼” The creel latch is a decorative. Unique fish design consisting of a head, middle and tail made of metal(magnetic) joined by leather. The ring turn buckle, backed by a leather multi-pointed disc, is non-magnetic and might be brass. The latch is fully functional. The wicker is near perfect although old and likely brittle. The lid hinge which was also wicker has been repaired with some sort of strong twine. This creel also comes with it’s original leather and cloth ... moreshoulder strap. The leather is still somewhat flexible and the cloth strap shows little wear or damage. All in all, this is a highly desirable piece of fishing history from a by-gone era. A super item to hang in your fishing lodge or man-cave! There is no shoulder strap, the clasp strap is broken, and the two small straps that hold the top on are missing. Looking at the weaves, they are in good shape. How adorable is this? This is a cool fly fishing creel/ basket. If you are a fisherman or know one they are going to love this piece of fishing history. This basket/ creel has a nice tight weave and is in really great shape. It could use a cleaning. But I am leaving that up to the buyer. On the front it has this adorable wood fish as a closure. The leather strap on the lid wraps around the fish to close it. This creel/ basket measures 9" tall18" across the front12" across the back, and the strap is nylon and adjustable to fit your needs. Utah digging through the things he had collected for over 75 years and I remembered a lot of them when I was a boy. We had a cabin on the Salmon River that he went to to get away from the turmoil of the world. I came across this special find, an antique/vintage fishing creel wicker and leather basket. I've included many pictures so you can see the good condition this piece is in. I have not done anything to it as far as cleaning, etc. This is exactly as I found it. Orig ANTIQUE Photo ADIRONDACK FLY FISHERMEN Early Fishing Creel Pack Basket 1900
Offered is a wonderful. Original antique photograph of three Adirondack region fly fishermen circa 1890-1910. The photo depicts a young boy with early woven reed fishing creel, standing with two men, also decked out in trout fishing paraphernalia. The man at center carries a very nice woven creel with fish-shaped latch, as well as what appears to be a bait box for insects used in fly fishing. The man at far right has a pack basket with handle of a pack paddle/canoe paddle poking out of it. Condition is good, there being corner bumps all around as well as a corner c rack, lower left. There are losses to the black paper that covers the back of the mounting card, as shown. Photo measures approx. 6.5 by 5.5 inches, from margin to margin of the card. Photo, alone, measures approx. 4.75 by 3.75 inches.

antique fly fishing creel Orvis Arcticreel
A very cool piece of fly fishing history this creel is made from light canvas that is intended to be soaked with water to keep the fish cool. A plastic liner(still in great shape) keeps the fish moist and a plastic apron on the back of the creel keeps the fisherman dry. Strap is in very good shape. No holes anywhere other than where they should be(drain grommets in the bottom) and some great stains that are probably from fish.
