Vintage Wicker Fishing Kreel with Leather Trim. 1950,s to 1960's
Vintage fishing creel circa 1950's to 1960's. Wicker basket with hand sewn leather tim. Has a fly fishing bait attached as an added bonus decor to it. The strap to fasten it is broken. There is some dirt from use and storage. Has a nice long leather shoulder strap. It is 13" long. 8" high, and 5" across. Nice old fishing kreel and would make a nice display piece.

Vintage Fishing Kreel Woven Wicker Circa 1950's Fish Basket -Leather Hinges Worn
This is a vintage fishing kreel that belonged to my father. Probably from around the 1950's? Really old, has been done in the basement forever. Possibly had been his father's first. Made like a woven basket. Shows some wear such as warping, leather straps worn, and dust. A long time ago the straps were reinforced with string so the lid would still work, but it needs some TLC. Stands 6" tall by about 5 1/2" deep. 8 1/2" wide at the top, and 9" wide at bottom. I just figured out that the lid has a sliding stick that goes into a loop when the lid is closed. To hold it shut.

Up for auction is this very nice 1950s vintage split willow fly fishing creel. It has leather trim and a rare silverplate fish design on the strap. The creel is in very good used condition. The very end of strap is missing a peace of leather as you can see in the pictures. The little round hook in back is came apart but can easily be fixed. It is marked Japan. I will include the harness but it is broke as you can also see by the pictures.

This auction is for a rare 1950 era vintage fly fishing creel. Marked on the leather hinge: MADE IN BRITISH HONG KONG- and with a 9" measuring strip. This rare wicker and leather trimmed creel is unlike most all others due to its size that measures 21" across the bottom or a 20" length across the inside bottom. Overall in very good condition with a missing little strap for the front leather pouch, some minor scuffs on the leather trim, and a few little broken wickers. I always wondered what you would do if you caught a 20" trout and had a small creel like all the others you see on ebay, this is the solution to that large problem. Vintage mid-20th century fishing creel that was produced exclusively for the famous Sporting Goods Company in Vermont"Orvis" This whole wicker. Center hole creel was in their 1950's catalog. It retains all its original wicker construction, lid hinges and front leather closing strap. It does have a leather and canvas harness found with it. Harnesses were"after market" purchases as an accessory item. The closing strap and buckle are still intact but leather shows wear. This creel model can be seen in the collectors book"The Art of the Creel" The creel has original Makers Stamp No. P9871 on bottom and behind leather strap. It measures approximately 14" across, 6 1/2" front to back and 8 1/2" high. It has a beautiful woven"overlap" top lid design with a turn of the century center hole ... moreconfiguration.
