Being offered this week is a Vintage Wicker& Leather Fly Fishing Trout Creel Basket. This trout creel is in Very nice condition! It is about 14 1/2" long. 6 1/2" deep and 7 1/2" high not including the handle which is 4" high. It has a locking belt buckle at the top door and a leather carrying strap at the back. It also has two belt slits at the back for a shoulder strap if needed. This is a nice addition to any Vintage fishing collection and ready to fish or display! Please see picture for more details. Vintage Antique Leather Split Woven Willow Wicker Fly Fishing Creel Basket VGC
Up for auction is a very nice split willow and leather fishing creel from early 1900's. The only real issue I see with this piece is the leather closure strap is broke. Although it is present and will be included for possible repair. Otherwise the basket is tight with little to no damage. The leather on the rest of the creel looks to be in very good condition as well. Slight discoloration inside on the bottom which just gives it credibility. Good luck.

Fabulous vintage fishing creel in excellent condition. It has a tooled leather shoulder strap with lambswool underneath. The wick and leather trim is all in great shape. The buckles on all the straps work great. The rivets and all the stitching looks solid. This handsome basket would work as a display piece or use it for fishing! This auction features a Vintage Wicker with Leather trim Fishing Creel. I don't know the age of this basket. Looks to be fairly old to me. The basket is primarily wicker with leather trim and a canvas shoulder strap. The shoulder strap does not connect to one side, bit is present. The leather does have some dark marks and is cracked in several places. Please check out the photos. The buckle over the top will not hold since leather can been cut short. The top wants to stay open but I think can be trained to stay closed again. The handle has significant wear and the leather has worn off in spots. It is in Amazing Condition- a couple of light stains to the leather but otherwise perfect! Lots of Great Photos to Confirm the Condition! The willow weave is tight and without flaw or damage. The leather is in Great Condition- no tears, rips or cuts of any kind, just the previously mentioned light staining in spots. The Creel is marked on the bottom- 15 MADE IN JAPAN. There is a leather handle at the top back. Along the top/back section also a ruler. Printed Made in Hong Kong. This Fishing Creel is Vintage(I have owned for at least 15 years and it was Vintage when I bought it) I bought it for a Display Item- I never used it. It appears to more than likely have never been used for its purpose- fishing creel as clean inside. The leather is all intact- not torn. There is some very light rubbing/wear here and there on the leather. Wicker is nice ... morewith very little wear. The top has one wicker piece near the square cut out opening that has come loose and sticking out/up and another wicker that is intact but you can see a split/crack not all the way thru but there so I want to mention. When you open the creel and look at the inside you can see some ends of the wicker sticking out- but not visible on outside. Overall shape of the creel is very nice especially for its age. Plenty of wear left to this fishing creel. This Fishing Creel was displayed in my Non-smoking home for less than 1 year and then it was stored in a box. He was quick to tell me he used it every season but took pains to not only clean it but throw on a coat of varnish! So it has a nice gloss to it that will protect it for many year to come. The only damage I noted is one broken mesh stick at the square opening at the top. Also the bottom buckle leather strap is broken-see picture. Other then that. This creel is in great shape. This old fishing basket is a larger one.16" long and 9" high, 5" deep without the leather pocket. There is hand sewing on it, with leather trim. It looks to be very old and is in rough condition in places, as shown in my pictures. The shoulder strap is missing, the leather handle is there, but torn some from the basket.It was hard to strap closed, due to stiffness and part of the strap missing. It's in need of leather oil. But still a nice piece for decorating, or in the garden, etc.

This creel is hard to find and considered to be one of the most sought after creels. It is clean with what appears to be an old repair on the top. It is tightly woven with hand tooled dark leather.The leather is hand tooled with a snake pattern on the creel and strap. The flap is back stamped 1-9 to measure your catch. The latch strap has a slight tear that could be repaired. There is the#2 stamped underneath the shoulder strap. It has premium-style buck stitching with no separation. Vintage Fishing Creel& Holder Vintage straps found inside creel This vintage creel basket& fish holder are in vintage condition. The creel basket has an 8 inch ruler on the top lid next to the hard leather strap/handle top. leather around the opening. Lid, front, corners, hinge, and pocket. The basket is in used condition and the leather is stiff and curled on the front pocket. the buckles and straps were found inside with the fish holder. It is called the Du-fish patented is 1942. The fish holder has a red handle that has peeling paint and the spring still works. The condition is old and used. Needs cleaning The buckle from the pocket was found inside the basket with straps and a chain(Not sure if they go with basket or not) the buckle on ... morethe lid was wired on. This auction is for a Pre-owned but never used or displayed 1996 Fly-Fishing Wicker Creel or Fishing Basket. This wicker basket is in perfect condition with leather trim and a 47 1/2" adjustable strap. The closure is a twist lock. It has a drop slot in the upper right hand corner. The basket is 9 1/2" long. 6 1/2" deep and 5 1/4" high. It has no broken wicker. The strap and lock are also in excellent shape. It has a flat back and oval body( sides and front) I have enclosed pictures of all angles including the bottom, to show the condition. This was initially purchased as a decorative item, but our decorating for a family room took a different direction before we used this. It has been stored in a box in a closet since 1996. It was never used for fishing so it has no odor or fishing residue. This Creel also comes with a ... moredecorative fish that I purchased, that you may choose to use as a decoration.or not. Antique Trout Fly Fishing Wicker Creel w/ Metal& Leather Fish Latch& Shoulder Strap Best age guess on this would be mid-1930’s– mid- 1950’s. This vintage trout fishing creel is made of wicker. It stands about 8 ½” tall x 13” wide at the bottom and 10” wide at the top x 5 ½” front to back. Lid has an opening for fish. Opening measures about 1 ¾” wide x 2 ¼” The creel latch is a decorative. Unique fish design consisting of a head, middle and tail made of metal(magnetic) joined by leather. The ring turn buckle, backed by a leather multi-pointed disc, is non-magnetic and might be brass. The latch is fully functional. The wicker is near perfect although old and likely brittle. The lid hinge which was also wicker has been repaired with some sort of strong twine. This creel also comes with it’s original leather and cloth ... moreshoulder strap. The leather is still somewhat flexible and the cloth strap shows little wear or damage. All in all, this is a highly desirable piece of fishing history from a by-gone era. A super item to hang in your fishing lodge or man-cave! Vintage Fishing Creel - Trout - Fly - Woven - With Leather Strap - Camp - Basket
This vintage creel measures 11 inches across the top. About 7 inches deep and about 8 1/2 inches tall. The latch on the front is missing and the top is attached only with string on one side- the strap is not attached either but will come with the creel. The basket is still in good condition- I do not see any breaks or damage- only some very light splatters of dark green paint here and there- it is hardly visible- I only noticed it when looking up close for any damage. Overall, this is a great vintage creel!

Also not sure of the exact age. See More Pictures Below* Condition: Creel is in fairly good condition for its age. It has clearly seen a lot of use. But has held up quite well! Leather around edges of creel. The pocket in front, the flaps for closing the piece, and the shoulder strap show wear and age. The leather shows marks and discoloration, and is warped- particularly the front pocket and strap. The weaving is in good condition overall- broken in a few small areas on the bottom. And poking through in two places near the fish slot on the top ... morepiece. Leather on closure of front pocket is torn and the hardware there is no longer functional as buckle. The leather on the back edge has two places where there is wear or where there were once maybe straps of some kind. The inside of the creel is in nice condition. Nice old creel in very good shape for being used-the previous owner put a 6" rule on the top-to make sure his or her Brook Trout were legal. At that time. Has a little damage where the previous owner tied some fly rod line on it to make sure it was secure. Nice creel probably for collecting or decorating. I think the latch is German Silver-not sure. 14" across the bottom x 6" high in front and 8" high in the back-tapered to the lid that is 11" across x 6" wide- the lid is tapered 1-1/2" from top edge to the front edge. 5" across the bottom to front edge.
