The leather is very hard and could benefit from leather conditioner if desired. Both buckles work well. There is a shoulder strap attached that is also leather and is in decent condition as it is also slightly hard. The basket is super nice. There is an 8" measurement on the top for when catching your fish. The wicker is great. It has a great lodge look and I suppose with some leather conditioner could also be used for fishing old school.

The leather does have some dark marks and is cracked in several places. Please check out the photos. The buckle over the top will not hold since leather can been cut short. The top wants to stay open but I think can be trained to stay closed again. The handle has significant wear and the leather has worn off in spots. The top flap of the basket does have a measuring ruled on the leather. Please check out the photos, I have take a lot to capture all the wear on this basket. I have for sale a vintage Fishing Creel. I have found similar examples of this creel sold by Horrocks Ibbotson Co. I believe it was made in Hong Kong. Japan. It is in used but still very good usable or decorative condition with no breaks in the weaving that I can see. The fish shape latch is complete with some rusting on the metal. The creel measures 14" across at the base and 9 3/4" across the top. All in all a very well made fishing creel. If anyone has anymore information on this basket I would be glad to add it to the description. I use USPS Priority Mail in the USA so the cost to ship will be a flat rate $6.00. Antique Old FISHING CREEL BASKET TRAP Woven Bamboo Rattan FISH NET
From the estate of an Air Force Officer. There was stuff from all over the world. He was a military officer who was in the Occupying Forces on Okinawa Japan after WWII. I don't really know too much about this area of collectible but I will describe it to the best of my ability. It looks old. It smells old. It's pretty tight and close to usable condition. I say"close" because. it does seem like it has sort of dried out and shrunk a little here and there. The netting is still fairly pliant and flexible. I think the netting is genuine old fiber or even hair. Looks like hair under a magnifying glass to me. Maybe horsehair- The opening of the netting is an iron metal ring that is slightly rusted and pitted but not rusted through anywhere. You are looking at a vintage wicker creel basket for fishing. That is in need of some TLC. This piece is 60 plus years old, and starting to show the age. It has several small holes or gaps in the wicker and needs some weave work in certain places(see pics) Also the top has been temporarily attached with leather as it was, but needs help. Buckle on front is missing, but the original leather waist strap is in the basket. Basket measures roughly 13" long, 6" wide and 8" deep.
