Vintage Fly Fishing Wicker Basket Creel Fisherman's Basket
Welcome! Up for auction is this great woven vintage fishing creel! It is in nice condition. With a few flaws as follows. There are some broken strands along the sides at the bottom. There are a few cracks in the bark that makes up the strap that goes around the basket. They are in the front at the very bottom and there is one chipped spot towards the left side of the photo about midway up. These flaws are visible in the photos if you zoom in on them. Other than those listed, the main part of the basket is in very nice condition, finished with a shiny gloss. The strap makes a twenty inch loop. The hinges are intact and in good condition, but the lid needs a bit of adjustment when opened. Feel free to email me with questions or for more photos. Being offered this week is a Vintage Wicker& Leather Fly Fishing Trout Creel Basket. This trout creel is in Very nice condition! It is about 14 1/2" long. 6 1/2" deep and 7 1/2" high not including the handle which is 4" high. It has a locking belt buckle at the top door and a leather carrying strap at the back. NICE CLEAN GEORGE LAWRENCE MODEL 4 LEATHERED SPLIT WILLOW BASKET CREEL
Here's a nice clean George Lawrence Supreme Model 4 leathered split willow basket creel. These were made prior to 1931 when the model number was changed to 4A. The basket has some breakage of the wraps on the board on the bottom but is otherwise flawless and has a nice patina. It's solid and sound and the leather is nice and clean and flexible all around. It's leathered with cow hide leather and embossed with the standard square rope tooling that appeared on most Supreme model Lawrence creels. It includes a standard model 1 1/2 Lawrence tooled cow hide leather shoulder strap. This is 15 inches wide and has a flat back as most all of the model 4 Supreme creels did. Would make a fine display item or could still be used. Here's a nice clean condition leathered split willow basket creel with front pocket. The basket is in great shape with no breakage. The leather is all in nice shape as well with no cracking or chipping. This was probably made in the late 1950's. Nicely made with pig skin leather. It includes a nice clean matching pig skin shoulder strap. This is a very large creel marked number 17 and actually measures 16 1/2 inches wide and has a curved back to fit the hip. Would make a fine display piece or a fine creel to use. I've been collecting creels for years and just recently realized I'm totally out of space to display them. EXCELLENT EARLY MARSHALL WELLS LEATHERED SPLIT WILLOW BASKET CREEL
Here's an excellent early Marshall Wells leathered split willow basket creel. I've enclosed a pic of the listing from the 1924 Marshall Wells catalog showing these creels. This one has half the top covered with leather and has a brown stained basket. The leather is super clean with no chipping or cracking and is nice and flexible. It's leathered with cow hide leather. It includes a complete Marshall Wells marked cow hide leather shoulder strap. This is about 14 inches wide and has a flat back as did most all of the baskets used on Marshall Wells creels. There has been some question about weather Marshall Wells actually leathered their own creels or just sold creels made elsewhere. Their 1927 catalog mentions the creels were built in their own factory and that was about the time they bought out John Clark Saddlery. I'm sure ... morethey then built their own creels but before that we don't know for sure. Very nice example of a tough creel to find. Would make a fine display item or could still be used. Vintage Antique Leather Split Woven Willow Wicker Fly Fishing Creel Basket VGC
Up for auction is a very nice split willow and leather fishing creel from early 1900's. The only real issue I see with this piece is the leather closure strap is broke. Although it is present and will be included for possible repair. Otherwise the basket is tight with little to no damage. The leather on the rest of the creel looks to be in very good condition as well. Slight discoloration inside on the bottom which just gives it credibility. Good luck.

This creel came from the collection of a wealthy sportsman's private game ranch home/cabin. This is a wonderful pre-owned vintage fishing creel. It appears to be very old and has definitely seen better days. The bottom portions of the basket are very sound. The lid is more aged and shows some breakage of weave. But for its age is rather good. Here's an excellent condition clean leathered split Bamboo basket creel with front pocket. The basket is in great shape with no breakage. This is a very unusual basket- it's extremely strong and according to a catalog listing I found is made of split Bamboo. It's much heavier duty than the normal split willow creel and I'm sure it's nearly indestructable. I've seen maybe 6 of these over the years and have never seen one with any basket breakage. The leather is very thick cow hide and is all in nice shape as well with no cracking or chipping. The basket is what we would normally describe as a low boy style. These were made in the mid to late 40's and I'm including a scan of the 1948 catalog page I found them in. It includes a nice tooled cow hide shoulder strap. VINTAGE HORROCKS IBBOTSON? FISHING CREEL BASKET W/ FISH STYLE LATCH AND HANDLE
I have for sale a vintage Fishing Creel. I have found similar examples of this creel sold by Horrocks Ibbotson Co. I believe it was made in Hong Kong. Japan. It is in used but still very good usable or decorative condition with no breaks in the weaving that I can see. The fish shape latch is complete with some rusting on the metal. The creel measures 14" across at the base and 9 3/4" across the top. All in all a very well made fishing creel. If anyone has anymore information on this basket I would be glad to add it to the description. I use USPS Priority Mail in the USA so the cost to ship will be a flat rate $6.00. Solid& sturdy. The basket closure strap is a fish head& body. The head has'PAT 66289' on it. There are a few broken strands/connectors. That hold the lid on to its rim, see pictures. Also a few broken strands/connectors. On the basket part, holding the basket to the rim. The 2 leather straps holding the lid to the basket are good. The basket weveing is very tight and strong. It comes with leather straps and metal closer works well. Tail is off fish body but is included. As is all the tackle pictured. good shape. Nothing missing, all leather is supple with the exception of the buckle to close the basket. when I was getting the basket ready to sell I broke that piece. This auction features a Vintage Wicker with Leather trim Fishing Creel. I don't know the age of this basket. Looks to be fairly old to me. The basket is primarily wicker with leather trim and a canvas shoulder strap. The shoulder strap does not connect to one side, bit is present. The leather does have some dark marks and is cracked in several places. Please check out the photos. The buckle over the top will not hold since leather can been cut short. The top wants to stay open but I think can be trained to stay closed again. The handle has significant wear and the leather has worn off in spots. Up for auction is a very old fishing creel. There is a anchor mark on the brass buckle and something stamped into the strap but I can't read it. It is 6.5" tall and 9" wide at the base. Leather is in very good condition. There is on break in the wicker on the back going around the frame. Most of the brass and rivets are greening or oxidizing. Beautiful piece for use or display.

This is a thrift store find-not sure of the age or where it came from. But it looks like an old fishing basket or fishing creel. It has a woven handle, hinged flap and a string where it was supposed to"lock" over something that isn't there anymore. Measures 14" tall to handle x 13" wide x a little over 8" deep across the bottom. It is in pretty good condition- has some dark spots on the front flap and a few strips are broken in two, and of course some discoloration you would expect from age.
