Color of item is actually brown. My photos are all over the place. Garment has a few light stains, did not try to wash. I forgot to photograph inside of pockets, they are reenforced at flaps. This is a very well made vest that I obtained roughly 30 odd years ago from a man that was 70+ years old. He had it for as long as he could recollect. No rips or tears, lots of pockets, fully adjustable suspenders and front straps with snaps. One size fits most. Very light weight vest. Great item for the nostalgic fisherman. Being offered this week is a Vintage Wicker& Leather Fly Fishing Trout Creel Basket. This trout creel is in Very nice condition! It is about 14 1/2" long. 6 1/2" deep and 7 1/2" high not including the handle which is 4" high. It has a locking belt buckle at the top door and a leather carrying strap at the back. It also has two belt slits at the back for a shoulder strap if needed. This is a nice addition to any Vintage fishing collection and ready to fish or display! Please see picture for more details. VERY LARGE LEATHERED SPLIT WILLOW BASKET POCKETED CREEL - NICE AND CLEAN
Here's a nice clean condition leathered split willow basket creel with front pocket. The basket is in great shape with no breakage. The leather is all in nice shape as well with no cracking or chipping. This was probably made in the late 1950's. Nicely made with pig skin leather. It includes a nice clean matching pig skin shoulder strap. This is a very large creel marked number 17 and actually measures 16 1/2 inches wide and has a curved back to fit the hip. Would make a fine display piece or a fine creel to use. I've been collecting creels for years and just recently realized I'm totally out of space to display them. I counted them a couple of weeks ago and find that I have over 400 of them. I guess I've got to move a few of them on down the road so my wife and I will have enough space to move around in the house a little. ... moreOf course I'm exagerating a bit but you can imagine how much space that many creels takes up. Leather is in very good condition. There is on break in the wicker on the back going around the frame. Most of the brass and rivets are greening or oxidizing. Beautiful piece for use or display.

Lid is connected with four strips of leather and there is a leather loop for hanging. Leather strips are in good shape. None broken. Lid has a rustic handmade look to it. Two holes designed into back of basket. Measures 10 x 7 x 9 Inside is clean. Please check photos for details. Place on right side at top on green where it looks like something has rubbed against it. Vintage Trout Net. Canvas& Screen Creel, Hand Tied Fly Assortment- Very Nice Lot. The trout net is made by ED. Cummings– Fishing Tackle Flint. Mich. and is in very nice condition. The wood handle and tear drop basket appears to be chestnut and birch. The net is whole with some stiffness and I can-not find any breaks and is 15” or more deep. The wood has normal dings and scratches and is in very good condition and has the original label. The length is 19-3/4” not including the metal belt clip and 8-3/4” at widest point. The canvas and screen creel is in good condition but could use a cleaning. Part of the leather strap is off but the piece is there. The creel has a zippered storage compartment and the zipper works good. I can-not find any holes or tears. The stitching is good and the shoulder strap is intact. The only makers marks I find ... moreis 44 stamped on the leather. I count 84 flies that appear to be hand tied and in good condition. If the count is of by a couple. Please no complaints. The fly box is plastic and marked Bill De Witt Pyra-Shell Baits Auburn. N.Y. Pat. Pend. The box is in very good condition and measures 6” by 4” when closed. Creel looks to have been used very little. Inside is very clean. Leather straps are solid and supple but could stand to be oiled. Lid is tied on with heavy cord, apparently the original owner didn't care for the original set up. Doesn't take away from the creel, gives it a folky look. Only on the lid, under where the leather strap should be, is the wicker a little loose(shown in pic 9) The leather is also quite worn and faded. The strap that went from the lid to the main body of the basket is missing(shown in pic 5 and 6) As a result of the leather coming off the lid, the lid is slightly crooked when closed. Here's a nice clean George Lawrence Model 15 leathered split willow basket creel. Somewhere in the mid to late 40's Lawrence started to mark their creels by their size so this is a 15 inch creel. In the 30's this would have been marked as a 4A(the standard Lawrence Supreme model creel) The basket has some slight breakage of the wraps on the board on the bottom but is otherwise flawless and has a nice patina. It's solid and sound and the leather is nice and clean and flexible all around. It's leathered with cow hide leather and embossed with the standard square rope tooling that appeared on most Supreme model Lawrence creels. Here's a nice clean John Clark Saddlery model 5 leathered split willow basket creel. Clark was out of business by 1928 when they were purchased by Marshall Wells. It is likely this creel was made about 1925 or so. It has a very nice tight weave basket- nice and clean with only minor breakage. It's leathered with cow hide leather and embossed with two different tooling patterns as is common with these Clark creels. Nice vintage 10" wood woven basket possible fish creel gather trap lid RARE
YOU ARE BUYING possibly a one of a kind basket. It is woven with varying sizes of thin wood. Great detail, even appears to have the original twisted bark handle. The actual use of this basket is unknown. However, due to the trap mechanism see photo 9, it appears it was for life creatures. It could have been for butterflies, all I know. Printed on metal bait box states"just half a turn and there's your worm" Manufactured by Walter S. Cole. Beaver Wis. all that is printed on bait box. Looks like it fits on a belt. This piece is in need of a cleaning. There is some paint peeling off the bottom of the belt holder. Green in color. CREEL; all leather trim. Hinges, closure, across body harness strap and handle are in great condition. All weaving is near perfect, there are a few missing/cracked reeds but no holes. Creel is curved to fit against your side. On top printed on leather is a fish measure and I just noticed it does say made in china. NICE CLEAN EARLY BIG RIVET TOOLED LEATHER SPLIT WILLOW BASKET CREEL
Here's a nice clean condition Big Rivet tooled leather split willow basket creel. These are early 1900-1920 creels I believe to be made in San Francisco perhaps by Ellery Arms. I have five or six of these and have seen a number of others but never a marked one. The distinguishing characteristics of these are the large 9/16 inch diameter brass rivets used to mount the straps& buckle. The leather sandwich used on the handle and the lightly stamped tooling used as decoration. I have similiar creels marked Ellery Arms but have not seen one of these marked. The basket on this one hads only minor breakage and is nice and clean. The leather is very nice and while showing a little wear here and there is still nice and flexible. It's bound with tooled cow hide leather and comes with a nice padded cow hide leather shoulder strap with matching ... moretooling. It's 13 inches wide at the widest point with a flat back. Fine example of a scarce creel for the collector. I've been collecting creels for years and just recently realized I'm totally out of space to display them. NICE CLEAN PETERS LEATHERED SPLIT WILLOW BASKET CREEL (RARE)
E.P. Peters was an important early Portland. Oregon creel maker. He built creels and other fine leather products in Portland from the mid teens to the early 1930's. He was the first to use buck skin strips instead of linen thread to stitch the leather onto creels and the first one to put pockets on creels to store tackle in. He did quite a bit of experimentation with pocket designs and built creels with one, two and even three pockets on them. In the late 20's he went to work for McMonies and built many of the early McMonies creels including the first zipper top McMonies creels. Mr. Peters creels are among the rarest of the Oregon creel maker's creels. This one is a fairly early example and also fairly plain as Peters creels go with linen stitching and no pocket. The basket is in nice shape with only a little breakage on the bottom ... moreboard. It is 16 inches wide at it's widest point. The leather is showing some wear here and there but it's all there and is still soft and flexible. Comes with a complete cow hide leather shoulder strap. Up for sale is a vintage split wicker with window fishing creel.Has a cloth and leather shoulder strap. Barn Find - Vintage Fishing Creel Wicker & Leather with Shoulder Strap - Nice
We have over the past few years cleaned out a number of estates. With wonderful finds of old. Antique, vintage and collectible items found in the attic, basement, garage and throughout the homes. I also love to scrounge through old barns and sheds. I will be placing some of these items, that I have accumulated, on ebay. So check out my ebay site for items of interest. Barn Find- Offering this Vintage Fly Fishing Creel. Made of wicker with leather trim and strap. It has all the correct snaps. Buckles and rivets. There are no breaks or holes in the wicker. The stitching appears to be in good condition, except on the left side front pocket, but only noticable when opened. Just one tear to the small strap on the back- see photo. Hard to measure because of the angles, but measures approx. 15" long x 7" deep x 9" tall. Condition ... moreis fairly good. Normal wear from use and age. Some small dings, scuffs, scratches. So they have been replaced. You were buying it with that knowledge. Otherwise in great shape. Guessing vintages 60s or 50s. No other problems. Displays extremely well. No makers name on it.
