The leather does have some dark marks and is cracked in several places. Please check out the photos. The buckle over the top will not hold since leather can been cut short. The top wants to stay open but I think can be trained to stay closed again. The handle has significant wear and the leather has worn off in spots. It’s in really good shape and measures 10” x 6” at the top. 13 ½” x 6 ½” x 5 ½” bottom, 6” high in the front, 8 ½” high in the back. There is a curve in the back of the basket. The creel is very sound and strong usable yet. There is one broken reed, and part of the tail on the closure is broke off. n This listing is for a Nice Old Creel Basket Measures: 13" wide x 4-5" thick x 8.5" tall(closed) 14" tall when open) Its features include: a 2.5" x 1.5" square opening on the lid The original hardware on the lid and on the front of the basket(leather strap is missing) Original Leather shoulder strap w metal buckles Original Finish- no repaint or touch up Condition: There is a piece of wood which the lid is hinged on that is broken and could use some wood glue or a replacement piece. There may be a strip of leather missing which would have been used to latch the lid closed. The exact age of this basket is unknown. However. It is at least 40 years old, probably a lot more. Some areas on the strap are very stiff and should be conditioned. I was going to take it to the leather shop to have it cleaned and conditioned but that will be up to the new owner. The front pouch buckle is detached. It will be on the inside of the basket. For the age they seemed to have taken care of it. Items sold as is. We obtained this from an estate sale. Basket weight is 1.10 pounds.
