Vintage Creel Fly Fishing Wicker Weave Leather Basket Shoulder Strap & Ruler
Up for auction is an early wicker(split willow) weave fly fisherman's fishing creel basket. Complete with original working shoulder straps and leather carry handle. Condition: Shows years of wear and use with wonderful old Patina. No holes. There is dried splitting or small tears on the 2 side edges of the leather holding the cover on. The leather strap for closing is there but the buckle or snap for keeping it closed is missing. The 2 small tie leather straps on the inside cover are broken and the cover closes crooked sometimes. No holes or breaks in the wicker weave on top. Sides, back or bottom. A few broken weaves or splits found only on the inside of cover. The leather carry handle is strong and fastened on very well. It does shows some loose stitches on the sides showing the weave rope inside. All giving this fishing creel plenty ... moreof old character) Please see all pictures for accurate condition(using close up) and ask any questions before bidding. From what I could determine from research, it was most likely made pre-WW11(1930's or earlier) there is a 10" center hole and it is a light caramel color. There is no strap included. This item has a few condition issues, has spotting, wear and dirt. The wickerwork of this piece is damaged on the front left-hand side and several places along the top of the lid(see pics) On the back right hand side there is damage to the wickerwork as well. The lid is secured with two pieces of wire and the inside is dirty from use.

Vintage Fly Fishing Fish Creel Basket Bag Woven Wicker Straw Weave Reed Decor
Vintage woven fishing basket with back straps and handle. Appears to be made out of reed. Measures about 8.5 inches in height. And about 8.5 by 6 inches across the top. Shows some wear: dust. Other than that. It is still in good shape. Comes from smoke-free environment.
