Vintage Fishing Creel tight weave - Antique - fishing basket - home decor - OLD
This creel came from the collection of a wealthy sportsman's private game ranch home/cabin. This is a wonderful pre-owned vintage fishing creel. It appears to be very old and has definitely seen better days. The bottom portions of the basket are very sound. The lid is more aged and shows some breakage of weave. But for its age is rather good. Please see pictures. The latch is missing. The leather strap is included but is very weak and broken in a few pieces. It was in and comes from a smoke free home. I got this at an estate sale and just passing it along to someone out there in Ebayland who really wants a good deal. The creel appears to be quite old and the weave is real small and tight with no breaks or holes guaranteed. It's the leather straps that are the problem. 2 issues to be aware of: the top is missing one piece of leather that holds it to the basket[ pic 8] and the second issue is the shoulder strap. It is broken in 2 places and needs a good fix. The creel measures 13" by 7" by 9" tall. If you are not 100% happy then send it back for a full refund. Guaranteed. This is a Great Vintage looking split willow also called French weave fly fishing creel from the 1940's era. It has leather trim and a leather pouch with two snaps and readable 9" ruler. It has developed a nice patina over the years. The leather straps and harness are still intact and are in a good vintage condition. Great decorator piece to show with your fishing collectibles. Picture#9 shows the right snap is off of the inside leather pouch but is connected to outside flap and shows well. This creel is in excellent vintage condition(dirty and aging to the leather, canvas and front hinge) with only a tiny break in one of the lid hinges. Up for auction is an early wicker(split willow) weave fly fisherman's fishing creel basket. Complete with original working shoulder straps and leather carry handle. Condition: Shows years of wear and use with wonderful old Patina. No holes. There is dried splitting or small tears on the 2 side edges of the leather holding the cover on. The leather strap for closing is there but the buckle or snap for keeping it closed is missing. The 2 small tie leather straps on the inside cover are broken and the cover closes crooked sometimes. No holes or breaks in the wicker weave on top. Sides, back or bottom. A few broken weaves or splits found only on the inside of cover. The leather carry handle is strong and fastened on very well. It does shows some loose stitches on the sides showing the weave rope inside.
