Being offered this week is a Vintage Wicker& Leather Fly Fishing Trout Creel Basket. This trout creel is in Very nice condition! It is about 14 1/2" long. 6 1/2" deep and 7 1/2" high not including the handle which is 4" high. It has a locking belt buckle at the top door and a leather carrying strap at the back. Vintage Antique Leather Split Woven Willow Wicker Fly Fishing Creel Basket VGC
Up for auction is a very nice split willow and leather fishing creel from early 1900's. The only real issue I see with this piece is the leather closure strap is broke. Although it is present and will be included for possible repair. Otherwise the basket is tight with little to no damage. The leather on the rest of the creel looks to be in very good condition as well. Slight discoloration inside on the bottom which just gives it credibility. Good luck.

Fabulous vintage fishing creel in excellent condition. It has a tooled leather shoulder strap with lambswool underneath. The wick and leather trim is all in great shape. The buckles on all the straps work great. The rivets and all the stitching looks solid. This handsome basket would work as a display piece or use it for fishing! The approximate measurements are 17" wide at the widest point x 8" tall x 6 1/2" from front to back. On Feb-06-13 at 09:45:32 PST. Vintage Wicker Fishing Creel Basket w/ Tackle This is a very nice fishing basket and all the gear pictured comes with it. It measures: 9" high x 11" wide x 6 1/4" deep. It is in very good condition. Solid& sturdy. The basket closure strap is a fish head& body. The head has'PAT 66289' on it. There are a few broken strands/connectors. That hold the lid on to its rim, see pictures. Also a few broken strands/connectors. On the basket part, holding the basket to the rim. The 2 leather straps holding the lid to the basket are good. The basket weveing is very tight and strong. It comes with leather straps and metal closer works well. Tail is off fish body but is included. As is all the tackle pictured. good shape. Nothing missing, all leather is supple with the exception of the buckle to close the basket. when I was getting the basket ready to sell I broke that piece. I don't know why that is brittle, the basket has never been in the sun since I have had it. there are wear marks on the back bottom both sides as you can see in the pis. the basket is 10' tall 15' wide, the engraved ruler can't be seen in the pics I did try but i'ts very viasble. thanks, sindy down sizing because health.

This auction features a Vintage Wicker with Leather trim Fishing Creel. I don't know the age of this basket. Looks to be fairly old to me. The basket is primarily wicker with leather trim and a canvas shoulder strap. The shoulder strap does not connect to one side, bit is present. The leather does have some dark marks and is cracked in several places. Please check out the photos. The buckle over the top will not hold since leather can been cut short. The top wants to stay open but I think can be trained to stay closed again. The handle has significant wear and the leather has worn off in spots. Up for auction is a very old fishing creel. There is a anchor mark on the brass buckle and something stamped into the strap but I can't read it. It is 6.5" tall and 9" wide at the base. Leather is in very good condition. There is on break in the wicker on the back going around the frame. Most of the brass and rivets are greening or oxidizing. Beautiful piece for use or display.

It is in Amazing Condition- a couple of light stains to the leather but otherwise perfect! Lots of Great Photos to Confirm the Condition! The willow weave is tight and without flaw or damage. This piece has amazing patina if you are purchasing for a display piece! The inside still has dried mud on the wicker from being used as an actual creel. The only issue I can see is the leather strap that buckles in to keep the lid closed. It's missing the little piece that keeps it attached to the basket see pic 12. Antique Split Willow Fishing Creel Basket Leather Hinges
This antiques fishing creel has a dark patina that has come from years of use. It is a fine tightly-weaved split-willow basket fastened to an interestingly shaped bottom. The back side of the bottom has a nice curve to it. It measures 11" wide x 7.5" deep x 9" high.The hinges and the closure are both leather. The closure works like this: the leather strap goes over a wire loop and then the clip fastens through the loop. This is a primitive arrangement but I cannot see that there ever was any other closure. It has one break in one piece of the willow on the top edge of one side as shown in the pictures. It in no way diminishes the looks of this creel. This would make a wonderful decorating piece filled with flowers. Dishtowels, wash cloths, etc or used to store items anywhere in your home. It's in great pristine condition with just enough wear to give it wonderful character. These split willow creels were made in Japan for the American Tackle Shops from 1900 thru 1950's as were the creel baskets imported by the famous Oregon Creel makers to leather. This creel would display beautifully in the man cave. Home, cabin or lodge. I inspected the creel basket and could not find any broken willow nor broken or missing thread stitching. Look close at the shine of the basket in the photos. The lid hinge is intact. No breaks in the leather. There is patina and dust on/in the basket and shoulder strap. Vintage 1940's or very early 1950's Creel basket with an EB Cummings Net. These belong to my husband's brother. The woven wicker is in good condition but could probably use some cleaning. This vintage Fisherman's Creel is made of wicker and has a leather/metal closing fish strap and leather hinges. The condition is excellent. There are no breaks in the wicker and the leather strap and hinges are also in great shape. This basket does not have a strap. The fish head is a little dull but I did not want to clean it in fear that I would ruin it. It measures 13" across the bottom base. 10" across the top by 5" wide, about 6 1/2" tall in back and 5" tall in front. The shoulder strap is missing, and there is just one leather loop at the back. It is in need of leather polish, as it is stiff and was hard to get the lid down. This old fishing basket is a larger one.16" long and 9" high, 5" deep without the leather pocket. There is hand sewing on it, with leather trim. It looks to be very old and is in rough condition in places, as shown in my pictures. The shoulder strap is missing, the leather handle is there, but torn some from the basket.It was hard to strap closed, due to stiffness and part of the strap missing. It's in need of leather oil. But I had recently broke the tail off These pics do not show this because i am having troubles with my camera, still claps but lower tail is off still have tail and the Strap seems to be all there.
