The basket ... moreis primarily wicker with leather trim and a canvas shoulder strap. The shoulder strap does not connect to one side, bit is present. The leather does have some dark marks and is cracked in several places. Please check out the photos. The buckle over the top will not hold since leather can been cut short. The top wants to stay open but I think can be trained to stay closed again. The handle has significant wear and the leather has worn off in spots. The top flap of the basket does have a measuring ruled on the leather. Please check out the photos, I have take a lot to capture all the wear on this basket. This old fishing basket is a larger one.16" long and 9" high, 5" deep without the leather pocket. There is hand sewing on it, with leather trim. It looks to be very old and is in rough condition in places, as shown in my pictures. The shoulder strap is missing, the leather handle is there, but torn some from the basket.It was hard to strap closed, due to stiffness and part of the strap missing. It's in need of leather oil. But still a nice piece for decorating, or in the garden, etc.

This is a Great Vintage looking split willow also called French weave fly fishing creel from the 1940's era. It has leather trim and a leather pouch with two snaps and readable 9" ruler. It has developed a nice patina over the years. The leather straps and harness are still intact and are in a good vintage condition. Great decorator piece to show with your fishing collectibles. Picture#9 shows the right snap is off of the inside leather pouch but is connected to outside flap and shows well. This is an excellent vintage/antique wicker fishing basket with leather trim and pouch. The wicker has its beautiful. Original warm patina. It measures 15" X 6" base, 12" X 6.5" mouth, and is 7" high. Above the leather 9" ruler you'll see printed, MADE IN BRITISH HONG KONG. I do not have the strap that laces through the back slits. CONDITION It is in excellent antique condition. There are no breaks in the wicker. The only stitching that is missing is the one stitch shown at the beginning of the ruler. The leather is all nicely in tact but is very dry. Antique Creel. Fine early medium Side Hole Split Willow Creel. Potbelly curved basket shaped with 13" bottom and 11" top. Harness holes, leather closure strap gone missing, but replaceable. Includes leather fly book from the'teens. About two dozen very, very old snelled wet trout flies as found in this post turn of the century 7" X 4.5" grained leather folding fly book. This book was made to take snelled wets on stretcher racks with coil springs to hold the leader material in place. This book has a German Silver closure clasp and two leaves with racks and springs on both sides. The pages are covered by wool felt also used to carry standard wet flies as well as the snelled ones. All is in very fragile good condition with some moth damage to a few of the flies.
