Vintage Fly Fishing Wicker Basket Creel Fisherman's Basket
Welcome! Up for auction is this great woven vintage fishing creel! It is in nice condition. With a few flaws as follows. There are some broken strands along the sides at the bottom. There are a few cracks in the bark that makes up the strap that goes around the basket. They are in the front at the very bottom and there is one chipped spot towards the left side of the photo about midway up. These flaws are visible in the photos if you zoom in on them. Up for auction is a very nice split willow and leather fishing creel from early 1900's. The only real issue I see with this piece is the leather closure strap is broke. Although it is present and will be included for possible repair. Otherwise the basket is tight with little to no damage. The leather on the rest of the creel looks to be in very good condition as well. Slight discoloration inside on the bottom which just gives it credibility. Good luck.

This auction features a Vintage Wicker with Leather trim Fishing Creel. I don't know the age of this basket. Looks to be fairly old to me. The basket is primarily wicker with leather trim and a canvas shoulder strap. The shoulder strap does not connect to one side, bit is present. The leather does have some dark marks and is cracked in several places. Please check out the photos. The buckle over the top will not hold since leather can been cut short. The top wants to stay open but I think can be trained to stay closed again. The handle has significant wear and the leather has worn off in spots. This appears to be an older wicker fishing creel basket. Has a wooden lid with a carved fly fishing lure decoration on top. Lid is connected with four strips of leather and there is a leather loop for hanging. Leather strips are in good shape. None broken. Lid has a rustic handmade look to it. Two holes designed into back of basket. Measures 10 x 7 x 9 Inside is clean. Please check photos for details. Place on right side at top on green where it looks like something has rubbed against it. Vintage Wicker Fishing Creel / Basket / tackle box w/ leather fish clasp, handle
This vintage Fisherman's Creel is made of wicker and has a leather/metal closing fish strap and leather hinges. The condition is excellent. There are no breaks in the wicker and the leather strap and hinges are also in great shape. This basket does not have a strap. The fish head is a little dull but I did not want to clean it in fear that I would ruin it. It measures 13" across the bottom base. 10" across the top by 5" wide, about 6 1/2" tall in back and 5" tall in front. Gorgeous basket is in excellent condition for its age, has brass feet, leather lid and trim, rope handles, brass latch and more. Please see all pictures. There is a piece of leather that goes around the top edge of the rope straps that needs to be reattached. Measures approximately 9" high by 13" wide and 8" in depth. The straps hang about 10" long.
