Leather is in very good condition. There is on break in the wicker on the back going around the frame. Most of the brass and rivets are greening or oxidizing. Beautiful piece for use or display.

Vintage Native Canadian Birchbark Vine Carved Fishing Trout Creel
I've had this vintage creel over 20 years. Having bought it in Ontario during a fishing trip. The body of the creel is made of double layers of birch bark with the white bark side to the interior. It measures 10 inches tall by 12 inches wide at its tapered base. It is laced with thin strips of what appears to be either light colored deer or moose hide and has hinges, a hanging loop on the back, and a strap for the peg that closes the latch made of what appears to be a darker dyed deer hide. The top has a center hole cut for inserting the caught fish. This great birch bark creel has never been used for fishing, so it is still as clean as can be both inside and out. There is a Chinese or Japanese symbol on the front. It has two straps on the back, where I would think you put a belt thru them to carry the creel on your belt. I am not sure, just speculating. Size is 9” wide at front. 8½” tall and the width inside is about 4” wide. The top piece comes out and acts like a tray. With a small square hole in it. Vintage fishing creel.I believe it is wicker( The item is unmarked. And the condition is used with signs of wear. The lid is unattached, and there is a small spray paint spot(dark green) on the front bottom center(very hard to notice.I'm pointing at it in one of the pics) Dimensions: Heigth = 10.25" Width = 14.5" Depth = 9" Really sharp item; very solid construction with some small issues; Easily fixed I'd think. Offered without reserve is a vintage wicker fishing creel from an estate. I suspect that this would date back into the 1940's or 50's era. It is old. The lid has a woven rectangular opening on the left side, it also has a sliding latch mechanism to hold the lid closed. The wicker feels pliable and remains solid, I think it could be put into use again with no issues, it measures approx. 8" tall, 6 1/2" wide and it is 15 1/2" long, hopefully someone can put it to good use.No Reserve! have fun bidding! This is a very niceTrout Fly Fishing Creel w Leather Straps. ts in such nice shape that I asked the old timer who owned it wheater it was striclty used as a display. He was quick to tell me he used it every season but took pains to not only clean it but throw on a coat of varnish! So it has a nice gloss to it that will protect it for many year to come. The only damage I noted is one broken mesh stick at the square opening at the top. Also the bottom buckle leather strap is broken-see picture. Other then that. This creel is in great shape. Not sure of it's age, so I am not going to use the word'vintage" You also get a all wood fly fishing net. In great condition, no holes in the net. Made by Walker. Perhaps the medallion on the closure snap(which is not connected to main piece) will help to identify the maker. It looks like a couple dancing but I'm not sure.it has a little oxidation occuring but I don't want to risk damaging such an old piece by improperly cleaning it.
