Vintage Antique Leather Split Woven Willow Wicker Fly Fishing Creel Basket VGC
Up for auction is a very nice split willow and leather fishing creel from early 1900's. The only real issue I see with this piece is the leather closure strap is broke. Although it is present and will be included for possible repair. Otherwise the basket is tight with little to no damage. The leather on the rest of the creel looks to be in very good condition as well. Slight discoloration inside on the bottom which just gives it credibility. Good luck.

This creel came from the collection of a wealthy sportsman's private game ranch home/cabin. This is a wonderful pre-owned vintage fishing creel. It appears to be very old and has definitely seen better days. The bottom portions of the basket are very sound. The lid is more aged and shows some breakage of weave. But for its age is rather good. Please see pictures. The latch is missing. The leather strap is included but is very weak and broken in a few pieces. It was in and comes from a smoke free home. Vintage Wicker Fishing Creel Basket w/ Tackle This is a very nice fishing basket and all the gear pictured comes with it. It measures: 9" high x 11" wide x 6 1/4" deep. It is in very good condition. Solid& sturdy. The basket closure strap is a fish head& body. The head has'PAT 66289' on it. There are a few broken strands/connectors. That hold the lid on to its rim, see pictures. Also a few broken strands/connectors. On the basket part, holding the basket to the rim. The 2 leather straps holding the lid to the basket are good. The basket weveing is very tight and strong. It comes with leather straps and metal closer works well. Tail is off fish body but is included. As is all the tackle pictured. VINTAGE ANTIQUE? WILLOW WICKER FISHING CREEL BASKET LODGE CABIN DECOR
This is a vintage. Possible antique, fishing creel. At one time. It had a wicker loop for the wooden dowel latch and this is no longer intact and will have to be fixed. It has a rope shoulder strap. There are a couple bent. Broken or missing reeds on the lid, but the body of the basket is in very nice condition. Would be perfect as is for lodge decor or with a floral or greenery arrangement inside, the small flaws in lid would not be visible and you would not need to use the latch. Measures about 11 1/2 x 5 inches on the bottom and is about 6 inches tall. The rope is plenty long enough for a shoulder strap with a 19 inch drop. It also has a wicker wrapped handing loop/ handle on back. I acquire my items at estate sales. And unless otherwise stated should be expected in good vintage condition. These items are not new. Vintage Antique Fisherman Sportsmens Large Wicker Creel Basket
Old antique wood. Wicker and leather material basket with hinged lid. Not sure but it resembles a sportsmen large fishing creel type basket/box. Inside is old wood, exterior is wicker and the top and straps is leather. Its very old. It appears that perhaps some of the mounting screws on latch and hinges may have been replaced at some point in time. The basket is old and has wear from age and past use. It is missing a top handle as the metal mounting knobs are there but the handle is missing. Not sure if the original handle was metal or leather or what? The box is 11 1/4" high, 12" wide and 7" deep. There is wear and some bending and fading from age but overall it is in pretty good shape. It weighs 3 pounds unpacked. Came from a very old local estate.

Beautiful Antique/Vintage Fishing Creel Hand Stitched Leather Trim Wicker Basket is in Very Good Condition with one Breakage in Wicker Denoted in Rear by Left Corner. Fishing Creel has been with me for more then 2 decades on display. The fishing creel has the handle and strap missing. The metal stud that holds the handle has come out of place in the rear of basket. The buckle is missing from the front. The leather appears to have sueded over time. All the hand stitching appears to be intact except across the top left corner there is a breakage in the leather where the basket's lid closes. Above the hole top. Unusual Vintage or Antique Woven Reed Fishing Trout Creel Unique design
Acquired at a yard sale in rural N. Florida 1985.Unique shape as I have researched auction house sales and websites. But nothing anywhere similar in design. Constructed of woven reed. Base width at front is 16.25 in. Cover width is 9.0 in. Like most of these reed creel, this one does have issues. The original cane lid hinges are long gone and were replaced with old shoelace. The twisted cane loop in front that secures the lid to the body has broken and the corresponding connector on lid is missing. On the back there is a 3/4 in square of missing cane. The good news is that the double twisted loops on either side for a carrying strap are intact. You collectors will have a much better idea of the age of this creel than I, however my opening bid will reflect my confidence in the possible rarity of this design.
