Color of item is actually brown. My photos are all over the place. Garment has a few light stains, did not try to wash. I forgot to photograph inside of pockets, they are reenforced at flaps. This is a very well made vest that I obtained roughly 30 odd years ago from a man that was 70+ years old. He had it for as long as he could recollect. No rips or tears, lots of pockets, fully adjustable suspenders and front straps with snaps. One size fits most. Very light weight vest. Great item for the nostalgic fisherman. Vintage Fly Fishing Wicker Basket Creel Fisherman's Basket
Welcome! Up for auction is this great woven vintage fishing creel! It is in nice condition. With a few flaws as follows. There are some broken strands along the sides at the bottom. There are a few cracks in the bark that makes up the strap that goes around the basket. They are in the front at the very bottom and there is one chipped spot towards the left side of the photo about midway up. These flaws are visible in the photos if you zoom in on them. Other than those listed, the main part of the basket is in very nice condition, finished with a shiny gloss. The strap makes a twenty inch loop. It is about 14 1/2" long. 6 1/2" deep and 7 1/2" high not including the handle which is 4" high. It has a locking belt buckle at the top door and a leather carrying strap at the back. Vintage Antique Leather Split Woven Willow Wicker Fly Fishing Creel Basket VGC
Up for auction is a very nice split willow and leather fishing creel from early 1900's. The only real issue I see with this piece is the leather closure strap is broke. Although it is present and will be included for possible repair. Otherwise the basket is tight with little to no damage. The leather on the rest of the creel looks to be in very good condition as well. Slight discoloration inside on the bottom which just gives it credibility. Good luck.

This auction features a Vintage Wicker with Leather trim Fishing Creel. I don't know the age of this basket. Looks to be fairly old to me. The basket is primarily wicker with leather trim and a canvas shoulder strap. The shoulder strap does not connect to one side, bit is present. The leather does have some dark marks and is cracked in several places. Please check out the photos. The buckle over the top will not hold since leather can been cut short. The top wants to stay open but I think can be trained to stay closed again. The handle has significant wear and the leather has worn off in spots. This appears to be an older wicker fishing creel basket. Has a wooden lid with a carved fly fishing lure decoration on top. Lid is connected with four strips of leather and there is a leather loop for hanging. Leather strips are in good shape. None broken. Lid has a rustic handmade look to it. This one has been hard to let go as it is so truely Unique and with the Carved Maple Leaf& Pine Cone along with. What I think is, Green Speckled Trout, carved on the Pine Wooden Box. We think is of Canadian origin from around the 40's or 50's or War time Era because of the Military Belt like cloth Strap. The dealer at the fishing show in Toronto Canada did not know much about it or the origin but pointed out the strap and the screws holding the leather hinges and said this is what he thought about the date" Please: You have to look closely at the pictures to see the carved into pine detail like the Maple Leaf. ... moreFly Hook, what I think is the Speckled Trout. Take note of how the crafter workmanship where he/she was able to make it curved by spacing the wood on the sides.
