This is a very niceTrout Fly Fishing Creel w Leather Straps. ts in such nice shape that I asked the old timer who owned it wheater it was striclty used as a display. He was quick to tell me he used it every season but took pains to not only clean it but throw on a coat of varnish! So it has a nice gloss to it that will protect it for many year to come. The only damage I noted is one broken mesh stick at the square opening at the top. Also the bottom buckle leather strap is broken-see picture. Other then that. This creel is in great shape. Not sure of it's age, so I am not going to use the word'vintage" You also get a all wood fly fishing net. In great condition, no holes in the net. Made by Walker. Fishing Creel-Giant Oversized Willow Basket with Leather Straps & Brass Hardware
The biggest fishing creel we have ever seen! Measures: 14" height x 15" wide x 8.5" deep. Tooled leather straps and brass hardware clips One hinge on the top is missing(see pictures 6.7) and there is a stain on one of the straps(picture 5) This would make a great decorator item in a rustic setting. I have a rustic fishing style bathroom in my cabin in the country and I am seriously thinking that if I don't sell this really fast I am going to use it for spare t-paper or magazines. This is a cool old fishing creel basket. Basket is tightly woven with multiple wear spots and scratches but no holes. All of the leather trim. Straps and front pocket are dry with scratches and marred areas. There are places on the front straps where the stitches are missing but the straps are not loose. The buckle on the lid is missing. The original straps are on the back including the embossed shoulder strap but are broken in many places. One of the rivets is gone. RARE VINTAGE ANTIQUE VERY OLD FISHING CREEL LEATHER FABRIC STRAPS COLLECTOR ITEM
This is a willow fishing creel used by my grandfather in the early 1900's. The willow basket is pretty much intact except that the back where the lid is fastened is very fragile. The leather and fabric straps are in poor condition. The clasp is complete but has come off the basket. I looks like it could easily be repaired. It looks like the leather has come undone on one of the sides(see photo 6 and 7) The creel is quite dirty(dusty) from being stored in a garage for 60 or 70 years or more. But I have tried to clean it up a bit. It would be good for any collector of antique fishing memorabilia. The creel is 12 inches wide. 9 inches high and about 6 1/2 inches deep. Some areas on the strap are very stiff and should be conditioned. I was going to take it to the leather shop to have it cleaned and conditioned but that will be up to the new owner. The front pouch buckle is detached. It will be on the inside of the basket. For the age they seemed to have taken care of it. Items sold as is. We obtained this from an estate sale. Vintage Rare Child's Woven Fishing Creel I have taken many pictures for you to enjoy and check out condition of this vintage childs size fishing creel. It is approximately 9 1/2" across the bottom. Appears to be all original leather straps and metal closure. Not sure if the lining came with it since there are loose threads and appears stitching was done by hand. But it is how we bought this. Many many years ago and it has been on display in our house as is. Lining looks like vintage denim. What a unique creel for your display of vintage fishing gear! I took pictures of all angles for you to see the condition and loose threads and the few cracked wicker pieces. This has been in our smoke free home and I do not detect any unusual odors.
