The original black paint work is in good condition with only minor losses to the rim of the spool, there are also some small blemishes to the paint finish to the edge of the back plate. The reel revolves smoothly without any wobble and there is no play when the spool is rocked. The ratchet/check lever works fine. Both handles and the chromed foot are sturdy ... moreand well attached. The drum release mechanism works fine and the reel is stamped internally"6/64" The reel has its' original box. However, this has suffered a little over the years, part of the top of the lid is coming away from the side, as well as the usual scuffs, marks and creases you would expect from an item of this age. Vintage - Mitchell 440A (Match) - High Speed Auto Fishing Reel - Ser No K213507
A Blue Mitchell 440A Match. Its a high Speed fishing reel, with two roller bearings and the higher speed retrieval gears and longer retrieve arm. A blue zip up reel bag to keep it in. The serial number looks like K213507. The paintwork is fair on the spool holder with a little missing and some bubbling. Some paint is aso missing on the foot and some on the base, the cover has a little paint missing, generally it is a nice looking reel. The bail arm. Lock works as it should, the bail arm chrome is bright and in good condition with a few marks. The anti reverse works as it should. The reel has a shallow Match spool fitted and a spare match spool in a clear screw top pot. Its a nice smooth serviced thirtyish year old reel. One to fish with or collect.

The reel is 3" in diameter. Has twin marbled plastic handles with an alloy spine and reel seat. There is a selective Ratchet swith on the backlplate and it has a brass locking screw and hub plate. Made of brass, and dating to the first half of the 20th century. The reel has a bakelite or vulcanised rubber? handle. An alloy foot, and is impressed to the front of the spool with'S ALLCOCK& CO Ld/ MAKERS/ REDDITCH ENGLAND' in an oval. The reel measures approx 2 3/8" in diameter and is just over 1" deep excluding the handle. Condition: The reel winds well both ways(there is no check) And has a nice patina. There is a small chip from the base of the handle(last photo) and the expected light marks& rubbing to the finish commensurate with age and use.

Stunning Rare Mitchell 811 Reel Never been used and since the day it was made has only been in 1 other mitchell collectors hands. I bought this one back in 1997 from a collector blind through the Angling Times as a new unused reel just before ebay started and is ONLY reluctantly for sale as i have another new boxed one. I also used to buy new mitchells through a guy who knew some very wealthy collectors not even always boxed but genuine as these collectors needed £1.000.00 plus super quick back in 1997 to put thier names down for 1 of only 10 reproduced(probably by Edward Barber) splitcane Richard walker carp rods.I still have most of these reels all new and might list a few.Anyway he always used to say to me get on ebay this was back in 2002.I always used to say no i let you do the work for me.I used to pay mind. But the prices have ... moregone up hugly since then especially on new boxed reels or as new VERY RARE reels like this one.Anyway it all dried up because everybody got ebay except me.I eventually got onto ebay back in 2007 when the prices had already started to go wild.Silly me should have got in earlier. THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO MARKS ON THE REEL FOOT! Mitchell Half Bail Fishing Reel. Boomerang anti reverse lever: The serial number looks like A03339 which is on the foot. T he reel has paint missing. The bail arm is more brass than chrome i.e. it is worn. The anti reverse works as it should. The winding arm works as it should. It has an aluminium round handle in good condition. Described in the 1951 catalogue as being suitable for sea fishing from shore, pier or boat, spinning, trolling and fly fishing! The back plate. unfiled) foot and line guard are made as one casting. The reverse of the back plate has 3 medallions, the Prince of Wales feathers, details of the makers and model and the Royal Warrant of George V. There is a sliding brass click check select button. The inside of the reel retains most of the black Japanned finish, however the exterior finish has largely worn away. Complete with a high quality. This auction is for a Zebco 888 closed face spinning reel MADE IN AMERICA. This reel is in excellent condition and has been completely serviced. When I say this reel has been serviced I mean it has been completely stripped down and soaked in mineral spirits over night. Thoroughly cleaned, and then reassembled with synthetic grease and oil to prevent rust and hardening of the lubricants. This reel functions perfectly and shows almost no signs of wear or use. In fact it works like new. This is a heavy duty closed face reel that you can use for heavy freshwater or some saltwater fishing. An excellent catfish reel. I have been repairing and rebuilding/restoring fishing reels for over 35 years and this is an excellent buy. I try very hard to price the shipping costs at what my costs are keeping in mind that Paypal charges me 4% and Ebay charges ... more10% and nobody likes to lose money so I am as fair as I can be.
