Vintage Winfield, Trout Fly Fishing Reel. Original makers Case. Excellent
Was a Winfield Reel everybody's first fishing reel? Of course not. I keep forgetting that some young fishermen probably cannot even remember Woolworth's! This is a Woolworth's. Winfield 3 3/4" Trout Fly Reel. I am not sure who made this reel but it is a replica or a lookalike of the Pflueger Fly Reel.It has off white hub and winding handle. The reel is loaded with a line so I must assume it has been used but only very lightly. The reel is in near mint condition. The reel comes in its original and striking. Turquoise, zipped case. Vintage K. Dowling & Son 3 7/8" Centrepin Fishing Reel.
This reel is in first class condition. It has a black coated back plate and front face of the spool. The rear flange of the spool is anodised blue. I therefore guess that this is a later model. The only real signs of use are some chipping to the end of the reel seat. It has a selective ratchet and drilled holes for locating a line guide. I do not have the line guide and one has neer been attached. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

This is a fairly standard Mahogany Strap Back Reel apart from the fact that it has an offset Ratchet Lever in the style of some early Allcock reels. The reel is 3" in diameter and is 1 7/8" from front to back. The foot and spine of the reel are formed from one piece of brass. Vintage Penn No.160 Fishing Reel with original box, instructions, lube & tackle
I remember my Dad using this when I was a young boy. It's still got salt crystals on the line from our last fishing trip off-shore in the Solent about 40 years ago. In completely original condition. Surprisingly with not too much pitting on the chrome, this item looks reasonably clean with no cracks or chips in the plastic case and feels smooth- as in it's still lubed and has a dampened click to it. A Mitchell 300S fishing reel with a spare deep spool. The serial number is R.5.05. The anti reverse works as it should and is the silent type. The bail arm works correctly. The chrome is very good. The paint is very good although there is a very small amount missing on the foot and the bottom of the body. The spool holder is good, the mark on the cover is a oily fingerprint that has wiped off. Garcia Mitchell 300 Fishing Reel. Toggle anti reverse type: The box is scratched and as you can see in the photo has a small piece missing to the top right corner. A small part of the hinge is also missing, it closes and locks fine, The serial number looks like 9577480(1969/1970) T he paintwork is original with some paint losses on the foot. And bottom of the body some small losses on the edges of the spool holder, overall its in a very good used condition. The bail chrome is bright and with some signs of wear and use. The anti reverse works as it should. The winding arm works as it should. The handle is complete and in good condition. The reel comes with a deep spool fitted. Vintage Haywood, Multiplying Crank Wind Collar Winch. Circa 1850.
This is a lovely old reel. Yes. It has had a couple of repairs but they are there to be seen. The reel itself carries its aged patina. It measures 2 1/8" in diameter and is 2 3/8" wide. It has a curved winding crank with a shaped bone handle. It has three pillars and the foot stanchion separating the side plates. The rare thing about this reel is the method of attaching it to the rod. It is called a Clamp or Collar Winch. The second rarity is the fact that it has a multiplying action. The makers name'Haywood Maker' is stamped onto the side plate of the reel. Very basic but authentic. The clamp itself is attached to he reel by means of three rivets. As stated. It would appear that the clamp or collar are later than the reel itself. The nut that tightens the clamp is also later. The only other thing I can see that appears ... moreto be out of kilter with the date of the reel is the washer beneath the screw securing the winding handle to the spindle. These unions are notoriously loose and tend to wobble in the housing from wear. I imagine this has been inserted to take up some of that slack. hi for consideration here I have 2 vintage fishing reels. Firstly is a vintage hardy 3.5 inch lightweight fly reel in ok condition I would say, quite some paint loss and chips, it spins well enough and has a correct smooth alloy foot, inside it has a double check mechanism, secondly is a vintage alloy and what must be brass with a tortoise shell pattern, this reel measures 3 and has a slightly wobbly bone handle with constant check, the foot is ever so slightly wobbly as well, it also has brass pillars, but again it spins ok, posted recorded delivery thanks for looking and good luck, ps please take a look at my other vintage items for sale thank you please make payment as soon as possible to avoid a delay in posting as I fish most days. Item Photos, Item Photos, Hello and welcome to the auction and thank you for viewing.This is for an old.Unusual centrepin reel which runs on ball bearings.This reel was amongst some items which I purchased from a very local elderly gentleman.There were a number of similar reels and two had a stamp on the backplate of Moores Pat.App.For.The others were unmarked but clearly all of a kind.This reel does not have the Pat.App.For mark.All the reels were of a similar design and were designed to run on ball bearings.They may be examples that never went in to production.This reel has a diameter of 8.5cm.or a little over 3.25 inches and there is a working optional check which is operated by a sliding screw to the backplate.There is a rin slot for the lever but it does not actually protrude from the rim.This looks to be as the reel was built.There ... moreare twin handles which are mounted on to a bar.There are two redundant holes to the backplate in the same area.One to the rim edge and one to the backplate itself.These may indicate a change of the design process by the maker.Please see the other similar listed centrepin. The reel itself is generally in good condition and spins truly and quite well.There is some surface finish wear to the chromed foot and the foot support stanchion shows a little marking.The spool can be moved up and down to a degree but this does not affect the action and the spindle is free from any side to side play. A rare brass fishing reel by Wallace& Kerr.Hanover Street, Edinburgh who were very much bespoke makers of fishing goods. The reel is entirely of brass and measures 2.25 inches in diameter. It has the makers name on the body.It is in good condition for its age.The reel moves freely although it does not click. I am not sure if this one should. A 4" Wide Drum Fly Reel by Dingley for Army & Navy Co-operative Society
This is a superb Dingley made(D1) 4" Perfect style Reel marked for Army& Navy Co-operative Society Ltd( ANCSL) Overall width of the reel is 1.8" and spool width is 1.2" The spool retaining screw is reverse threaded to unscrew clockwise. And tension adjuster is strapped over. The brass foot is original length at 3.3" The reel retains most of its original leaded finish and is in excellent mechanical condition. The spool is tight and free from wobble and the check works and sounds great. Only'defect' is some line burn on the rim as shown in photo 5. It looks worse in the photo than in reality. The reel was in use earlier this season and has a recent sink tip line fitted. No idea what weight it is. ANCSL became Army& Navy Stores in 1934 so I assume this reel predates that name change. Vintage - Garcia Mitchell 410 High Speed Fishing Reel & Spare Spool
A Garcia Mitchell 410 high Speed fishing reel. With two roller bearings and the higher speed retrieval gears, longer arm with a torpedo handle. The serial number on the foot looks like E or F 049302(1975 or 1976) The paintwork has some paint loss on the foot. Some on the bottom of the body and cover, the spool holder has some paint loss(worse side shown in photo) The reel has a shallow spool fitted and a spare deep spool. The bailarm. Anti reverse works as it should. The bail arm chrome is fairly dull with some use marks. A serviced reel to use or collect.

Vintage J W YOUNG & SONS Landex Fly Fishing Reel (MW) - 3 1/2" c.1950's
Vintage J W YOUNG& SONS Landex Fly Fishing Reel(MW) 3 1/2" c.1950's Ref: This is a vintage J W Young Landex Fly Reel. Which is 3 1/2" in diameter. The spool itself is just under 1" wide, which makes this a"Medium Width" MW reel. This reel is marked J W YOUNG& SONS Ltd. With textured finish, which I this dates it to late 1950's, maybe early 1960's. The spool is retained by a two screw latch. Overall condition of the reel itself is very good. With only superficial wear and surface scratches to the finish, mainly around the outer rims(see photos) The frame is in very good condition with no cracks or repairs and no line cuts or abrasions. This particular example has an alloy line guard, which carries the remains of a registered design number(now unreadable) The reel has both it's original ebonite ... morewinding handles. Which each carry the design registation number 843417. The handles still turn freely on their spindles, in both directions. There are a couple of superficial scratches and a miniscle nick on the edge of the alloy foot. But otherwise it is in excellent original condition, has not been modified and remains firmly attached. The spindle is in good condition. As it the check, which produces a good strong and even click. The spring loaded finger latch releases and retains the spool, which turns very smoothly in both directions, with no wobble and no binding. This reel has unusual winding and check mechanisms, described by J W Young as follows: 1. Patent check regulator. Permitting variable tension to main check spring. 2. Emergency set of checkwork. Mounted in a cage; can be readily engaged without the aid of equipment. 3. INDEPENDENT DOUBLE HANDLE UNIT REMAINS STATIONARY when playing a fish or pulling off line; disengagement and engagement are entirely automatic. As far as I can tell these mechanisms are in good working order. I note there are various advisories attached to the use of the"checkwork" including some conflicting views on forums. A quick goog
