hi for consideration here I have 2 vintage fishing reels. Firstly is a vintage hardy 3.5 inch lightweight fly reel in ok condition I would say, quite some paint loss and chips, it spins well enough and has a correct smooth alloy foot, inside it has a double check mechanism, secondly is a vintage alloy and what must be brass with a tortoise shell pattern, this reel measures 3 and has a slightly wobbly bone handle with constant check, the foot is ever so slightly wobbly as well, it also has brass pillars, but again it spins ok, posted recorded delivery thanks for looking and good luck, ps please take a look at my other vintage items for sale thank you please make payment as soon as possible to avoid a delay in posting as I fish most days. Item Photos, Item Photos, Hello and welcome to the auction and thank you for viewing.This is for an old.Unusual centrepin reel which runs on ball bearings.This reel was amongst some items which I purchased from a very local elderly gentleman.There were a number of similar reels and two had a stamp on the backplate of Moores Pat.App.For.The others were unmarked but clearly all of a kind.This reel does not have the Pat.App.For mark.All the reels were of a similar design and were designed to run on ball bearings.They may be examples that never went in to production.This reel has a diameter of 8.5cm.or a little over 3.25 inches and there is a working optional check which is operated by a sliding screw to the backplate.There is a rin slot for the lever but it does not actually protrude from the rim.This looks to be as the reel was built.There ... moreare twin handles which are mounted on to a bar.There are two redundant holes to the backplate in the same area.One to the rim edge and one to the backplate itself.These may indicate a change of the design process by the maker.Please see the other similar listed centrepin. The reel itself is generally in good condition and spins truly and quite well.There is some surface finish wear to the chromed foot and the foot support stanchion shows a little marking.The spool can be moved up and down to a degree but this does not affect the action and the spindle is free from any side to side play. Vintage J W YOUNG& SONS Landex Fly Fishing Reel(MW) 3 1/2" c.1950's Ref: This is a vintage J W Young Landex Fly Reel. Which is 3 1/2" in diameter. The spool itself is just under 1" wide, which makes this a"Medium Width" MW reel. This reel is marked J W YOUNG& SONS Ltd. With textured finish, which I this dates it to late 1950's, maybe early 1960's. The spool is retained by a two screw latch. Overall condition of the reel itself is very good. With only superficial wear and surface scratches to the finish, mainly around the outer rims(see photos) The frame is in very good condition with no cracks or repairs and no line cuts or abrasions. This particular example has an alloy line guard, which carries the remains of a registered design number(now unreadable) The reel has both it's original ebonite ... morewinding handles. Which each carry the design registation number 843417. The handles still turn freely on their spindles, in both directions. There are a couple of superficial scratches and a miniscle nick on the edge of the alloy foot. But otherwise it is in excellent original condition, has not been modified and remains firmly attached. The spindle is in good condition. As it the check, which produces a good strong and even click. The spring loaded finger latch releases and retains the spool, which turns very smoothly in both directions, with no wobble and no binding. This reel has unusual winding and check mechanisms, described by J W Young as follows: 1. Patent check regulator. Permitting variable tension to main check spring. 2. Emergency set of checkwork. Mounted in a cage; can be readily engaged without the aid of equipment. 3. INDEPENDENT DOUBLE HANDLE UNIT REMAINS STATIONARY when playing a fish or pulling off line; disengagement and engagement are entirely automatic. Item Photos, Hello and welcome to the auction and thank you for viewing.Listing for a client this is old vintage brass fishing reel by Hogg of Edinburgh.The diameter is approximately 5.8cm.There is quite a long.Correct,original,unfiled foot which is approximately 8.15 cm. in length and is held by two original rivets.The original black handle,which sits on an original brass base,is also quite long for a small reel and measures approximately 2.2cm. in length.The handle plate is held by two small screws which can be removed to release it.Mr.Graham Turner in his book Fishing Tackle The Ultimate Collector's Guide lists Francis Hogg as trading in Edinburgh from 1837-1887.This nineteenth century date is supported by the long foot with twin,single independent rivets. Vintage Bakelite Fishing Reel with Brass Fittings. Good Condition.
This is a very old Vintage Bakelite reel with brass fittings. The reel is unnamed and in good condition with no cracks or chips. The inside of the reel has brass pillars that the line winds onto. These pillars are secured by brass round head screws. The knobs are secured on brass plates and are also in good condition. It turns very freely and smoothly with the drag being adjusted by tightening the front brass wing nut. It is a large reel measuring 6" in diameter and 1 1/4"wide. Late 1800 's 'C. FARLOW' Brass Plate Wind Fishing Reel. Excellent Condition.
This is is a very old Vintage/ Antique brass'Chas Farlow& Co' platewind fishing reel in Excellent condition. This is a very scarce 2 1/2" reel. It is clearly stamped on the front plate with the maker's name; C.FARLOW& Co. Makers 191 Strand London' T his particular reel would date back to around to 1890's. These reels by'Farlow' can easily be found in reference books today and was one of the quality manufacturers of their day. The reel is in excellent condition. Has a loud constant check, works perfectly turning very smoothly with no rubbing. It only has some very minor scuff marks on rim(refer photos) The foot is excellent with no filing. The knob is also in excellent condition with no chips or scratches. It measures 2 1/2" in diameter and 1 1/4"wide. Please refer to the photos for more detail ... moreon condition. Late 1800 's 'MALLOCH Brass Fishing Reel with Leather Case. Excellent Condition.
This is a very old Vintage/ Antique brass'P.D.MAALLOCH' platewind fishing reel in Excellent condition with a leather case. This is a very scarce 2 1/2" reel with original old silk line on it. It is clearly stamped on the front plate with the maker's name in their Shield Logo; P.D.Malloch Maker Perth' T his particular reel would date back to around 1880's to 1890's. These reels by'Malloch can easily be found in reference books today and was one of the quality manufacturers of their day. The reel is in excellent condition with most if not all of its original finish. It has a loud constant check. Turns very smoothly and has no rubbing. The knob is also in excellent condition with no chips or scratches. It measures 2 1/2" in diameter and 1"wide. The leather case is also in excellent condition with all ... moreseams and stitching in excellent order. It does have a previous owner's name written in biro on the inside of the lid. The case is impressed with the manufacturers name; Lyon& Coulson. Buffalo N.Y. The press stud is in good working order and wthe case would probably date back to around early 1900's.
