Sidecast Fishing Reel 5 3/4"
A home made sidecast reel with a retractable power handle. Permanent anti-reverse and push button sidecast mechanism. The reel is 5 3/4" in diameter with a 2 1/2" wide spool. The spool looks to be Oregon timber, the back plate aluminium and the back strap and reel foot are brass. The reel has a drag system with two thrust ball bearings on either side or the spool. The anti-reverse is incorporated in the crank handle. This is certainly an interesting piece of fishing memorabilia displaying the inventiveness of anglers past.

Vintage Antique 3.5" Gamage brass & wood wooden Nottingham fishing reel
Here we have for auction a 3.5" Gamage Nottingham fishing reel in an absolutely beautiful condition complete with beautifully marked bulbos horn handles set on brass plates. Thick cut brass to the starback, brass centre spool cap with butterfly nut, brass lined to the backplate& brass flange to the spool, brass calliper, pawl and pawl gear. This quality reel has a very strong optional check that when switched over sounds a nice firm click with a chime from the brass. With the check off the spool turns nice& smooth on the turn and one good spin will see the spool return many revolutions with absolutely no wobble! One of the better examples I have seen. Stamped to the base of the starback with the oval Gamage logo, this reel however is made by Smith& Wall for Gamage as this Victorian maker did for other sports outfitters and ... moreas such is also stamped to the inside of the starback S&W as this victorian maker did. Vintage and rare C.R.LEE SHEFFIELD Centrepin Fishing Reel
Very nice condition centrepin from C.R. Lee of Sheffield. The spool measures 4" diameter and 3/4" inner spool Spool and backplate are aluminium and reel foot and 12 spool bracing bars are brass. Steel spindle. A few years ago the rather make-shift spring clip which applied tension to the little spool release switch. Fell off and vanished. I replaced it by fitting 10lbs bs clear power-gum around the base of the brass spindle bush inside the spool and over the bottom of the release switch. It's worked fine for many years. This is discreet and just about be seen in the 3rd picture with the reel lying down. In Sheffield style there is no ratchet fitted. This is a very free-running centrepin and spins for about 90 secs with a good flick. A nice looking reel and not an easy one to put down! Upper of spindle measures 7.24mm(dia) Reel has a spool diameter of 2.7/8" 5/8" width internal(if I'm correct) Reel face plate reads as follows"Hardy's Alnwick Patent" center of spool face reads"To Dismount. Turn screw" Internally and on rear of face plate the reel is marked 2, along with the initial"A.B" within a circle. A.B are the initials of Alfred Broadley. Period 1893 Handle is of Ivorine. Reel seat/foot is of brass and stamped"England" Other than the light age/old finish wear the Reel is in truly beautiful. Fully operative condition Ratchet check operates crisply. Here we have a very collectable vintage fishing reel made of wood- possibly mahogany- with brass fittings and what looks like bakelite or some form of hard. Early plastic. I have very little knowledge about reels- sorry- so hopefully all you fishing reel collectors out there will know what you are looking at! There is no name or any kind of identifying marks on the reel that measures 4 1/2 inches in diameter. It is in good, used condition- has been varnished but has lost a little of this at the edges. Mitchell Reel Handle. Post 1968 A few minor marks on the alloy handle and wear on the black plastic handle knob and screw commensurate with age. Unlike most handles of this type that come up on E-Bay as spares there is no deformity or bending in the handle shafts. I only kept the good handles for re-use and chucked the bent and battered ones in the bin. Going for a bargain price to clear shelf space in my new shed workshop. A Blue Garcia Mitchell Match high speed auto fishing reel with a twist handle. The serial number looks like C143993(1973) The paint is fairly good. With some missing on the foot and spool holder see photo`s. The reel has a shallow match spool fitted. The bailarm. Vintage Mitchell 300A Fishing Reel. The serial number looks like M120304(1982) T he body has hardly any paint loss on the foot. Spool and transfer has minor paint loss. The cover plate is good the Mitchell 300A badge is fair with some paint wear. The bail arm chrome has some wear and marks. The anti reverse works as it should. The twist plastic handle is good.
