Here we have for auction a 4" Smith& Wall Fishtail Nottingham fishing reel in an absolutely beautiful condition complete with bulbos wooden handles set on brass plates and thick cut brass. This is a not so common shallow/narrow drum example to the spool which turns nice& smooth on the turn and one good spin will see the spool return many revolutions! One of the better examples I have seen. Stamped to the rear of the brass starback S&W as this victorian maker did. An absolutely lovely reel which is going to compliment any collection! Rare Early Vintage - Mitchell Half Bail Fishing Reel + spare spool & teflon gear
Mitchell Half Bail Fishing Reel with spare spool. I can see no serial number on the foot only and what looks like a F. On the back of the body there are some numbers and it looks like it starts with a C then a 4 the rest I can not read. The reel has a Teflon gear. Also included is an aluminium gear in case you want to use the reel, the Teflon gear came with the reel. the sprung handle works well and has a plastic twist handle. The thicker early type, possibly the original, but who can be sure. I have included lot`s of photo`s so you can see the condition which is good for a old reel. The bail arm chrome is fairly good with some marks and wear. It is a nice working and complete half bail reel. Which is probally 60 plus years old. If you have any questions please ask.

Vintage Antique 5.5" Allcock brass & wood wooden Nottingham sea fishing reel
Here we have for auction a 5 1/2" Allcock Nottingham sea fishing reel. Model 5130A in the 1915 Allcock catalogue. This reel is in an absolutely beautiful condition complete with bulbos ebonite handles set on cupped brass plates, deep recessed centre spool with brass plate& large steel butterfly nut, thick cut brass to the starback, brass flange& backplate, copper brass calliper, steel offset pawl and pawl gear. This quality reel has a very strong optional check that when switched over sounds a nice firm click with a good chime from the brass. With the check off the spool turns nice& smooth on the turn and one good spin will see the spool return many revolutions with absolutely no wobble! Defiantly one of the better examples I have seen, this reel is solid and could easily be used for fishing once again! Stamped to the heel ... moreof the foot with the Allcock oval logo. Up for grabs we have a Collectable Old Shabby Vintage Marbled Bakelite/ Early Plastic CLIMAX Fishing Reel-Great Display Piece I think it's from the 40s or 50s and it's approx. 8cm diam. and 4cm thick(excluding the knobs) It's shabby with surface and edge wear and tear. It's discoloured, there is a broken bit, the metal parts are discoloured and not sure how or if it's working(not an expert) P lease see photos. Selling in as is found condition. vintage fishing reel, Allcock Aerialite bakelite 1930's?
Description This is a very nice bakelite bodied reel with nickel plated brass fittings and a steel handle bar. Made by Allcocks. This is the Aerialite reel, made in England. This is a lovely reel in need of some small attention to bring them back to their best- I believe only the nick to the front of the spool would be hard to fix! It seems to run nicely and the ratchet switches in and out nicely. It does still have line on it although I doubt this is any good! I haven't removed the line to check the inside of the spool. Size: 3 3/4 inch(9.5cm) diameter to the reel itself. 1 1/2 inch thick(3.7cm) and the section for mounting it to the rod is 2 1/2 inches long(6.3cm) I have described this as I see it but am no expert. Please ask any questions you may have and i'll do my best to answer them for you. Please note I have other reels available. ... moreIf you buy more than one of the reels then I will send them for the same postage cost as a single reel within the UK. Overseas I will do my best to combine and reduce the shipping cost as much as possible. Please ask for a new total when paying so I can adjust the postage for you! Condition This is an old reel. Made of bakelite for the spool and body, with nickel plated brass fittings and a steel/plastic handle. The bakelite body and spool are in good condition generally, with one small chip on the edge of the spool and a couple of small patches which are slightly rough but may clean off. The nickel plated fittings look intact but have a bit of verdigris forming which should clean up ok. The line guide has worn down to brass. The handle bar is made of steel and has rusted through the chromed finish, this does look poor now but seems only surface deep and would clean up with dismantling and polishing. The small black handles look in good condition and do not turn. The larger handle looks like it is made of marbled bakelite type plastic. The ratchet mechanism does work and is selectable. V good vintage allcocks nottingham starback slater latch wooden fishing reel
for sale here is a very good nottingham style starback wooden reel(possibly mahogany) foot is good and straight and unfiled and stamped by allcocks of redditch with brass david slater sliding centre latch. Twin handles in darker wood on teardrop brass plates, starback backplate with sliding check latch, overall a nice example with loud audible check and runs very smooth too and spool sits nice and flush on the spindle with no wobble or slackness, anyway look at the fotos.please see my other listings of hardy and other vintage fishing items this week.
