According to the Old ... moreReel Collectors Association(ORCA) Johnson Century Reels were rebranded for Western Auto. Don't know the age of this reel. But it is older and appears to be in good working condition. Reels smoothly, with the little lever on the rear down it makes a clicking sound. Put it up and it does not. Looks intact. I have never fished with it, I got it out of an old tackle box from an estate auction that had some other old reels, fishing lures and flies. See my Fishing Gear Category for those items. This reel has most of its original paint, but as pictures show there is some loss from banging around in a tackle box for several years and a couple of small dings. The Western Auto badge has some wear as shown. This reel I think is ready to go fishing, has line but I am sure you will want to re spool it. See pictures and ask questions prior to bidding. Vintage Antique 4" Smith & Wall brass & wood wooden Nottingham fishing reel
Here we have for auction a 4" Smith& Wall Nottingham fishing reel in an absolutely beautiful condition complete with ebonite handles set on brass plates. Thick cut brass to the starback, slater pattern latch which connects smoothly, brass lined to the backplate& convexed brass flange to the spool, brass calliper, pawl and pawl gear. This quality reel has a very strong optional check that when switched over sounds a nice firm click with a chime from the brass. With the check off the spool turns nice& smooth on the turn and one good spin will see the spool return many revolutions with absolutely no wobble! One of the better examples I have seen. Vintage Mitchell Red Band 301A Fishing Reel. The serial number looks like R-8-03 the 8 could be a 3 T he body has some minor paint loss on the bottom of the body edge and a small loss on the foot. The spool holder has no paint loss there is a small mark in the centre, the spool transfer is very good to perfect with none worn away. Comes with a 300A booklet. The cover plate and badge Mitchell 301A is very good. Some very small loss. The bail arm chrome is bright. The anti reverse works as it should. The Twist plastic handle is good. The arm is the the aluminium screw type. The spool fitted is a shallow spool. It is a good serviced vintage Mitchell 301A fishing reel. The reel looks new(ish) But I am sure there must be some other marks given its age, great for a collector. If you have any questions please ask.

Boxed Garcia Mitchell 300 Fishing Reel. Toggle anti reverse type. The paperwork is a 300 booklet and a guarantee card. Their is some age related discolouring etc, no tears, rips or writing. The box and yellow tray are in a good condition. With no cracks, fairly nice used condition as its over 40 years old, hard to find in this condition, the yellow tray has a piece broken off, see photo`s. The serial number is E007401(1975) no number on the clam box. T he body and spool has no paintwork missing some general marks through handling see photo`s. The cover plate is in a nice condition. The bail chrome is very nice and bright. The anti reverse works as it should. The winding arm works as it should. The handle is complete and in good condition. Antique/ Vintage Mahogany. Brass, Aluminium Fishing Reel 7.5 cm across This is a mahogany. Brass and aluminium fishing reel, maker unknown. It has a lever at the side to turn the click ratchet on and off. I don't recall seeeing one of this type with an aluminium sheet attachment to the rod before. But it seems original. Aluminium was a pretty expensive metal before about 1900 so possibly this reel dates to the 1920s 0r 1930s. No makers mark. Size: about 7.5 cm in diameter(3 inches) Weight: 123 grammes Condition: as seen in pictures- needs a clean. Everything works. There is one small screw missing that holds the aluminium cross plate to the back of the reel. And the ratchet lever is threaded at the end so probably originally has a knob on the end, now gone. Vintage Antique 4.5" Milward Frogback brass & wood Nottingham fishing reel
Here we have for auction a 4.5" Milward Frogback Nottingham fishing reel in an absolutely beautiful condition complete with chunky brass handles set on cupped circular brass plates. Thick cut brass to the frog back& foot, recesed deep spool with large butterfly latch with locking screw, slater pattern check latch, brass lined to the backplate& convexed brass flange to the spool, brass calliper and gear, steel pawl and a ventilated spool which finishes this off perfectly! This quality reel has a very strong optional check that when switched over sounds a nice firm click with a chime from the brass. With the check off the spool turns nice& smooth on the turn and one good spin will see the spool return many revolutions. Stamped to both handles MILWARD PATENT. A rare solid and polished rosewood 4-line hand-held fishing reel with grooved and notched slide lid and storage compartments for shots/hooks/plummet. Finely turned bone line-winding spindles and numerous delicately cut slots to the edges of the outer side panels for retention of line/gut when fishing. An identical reel is illustrated in my 1907 copy of the Army& Navy Stores catalogue in which it is referenced as being a"Four Line Furnished Reel" Overall it is in very good and undamaged condition- with only light signs of possible earlier use and age patination. I am selling a Nottingham Star back fishing reel. It came out of a loft and had probably been there for decades. The reel has no makers name on it but is extremely well crafted. An Alcock? Mitchell 410A Firstly please note: Originally this would hve had an aluminium spool witha grey drag knob. It now has a plastic one with a black drag knob. These are the same physical size as a 300 but with a high. 4.9:1 retrieve ratio. These were the Carp reel of choice with many anglers here in the UK during the 1970's and 1980's. The serial number on this one is really hard to read. I think it starts with an"H" if correct circa 1978. It's in excellent working order and ready to fish. Very free. Smooth and quiet to wind, good bail return, strong ticking anti reverse. The foil information band on the rotor has a few marks but still readable. The Reel is all in good working order including the Button Regulator. In extremely good condition and in its original Box. With everything working as it should. There is a small amount of paint missing on the Foot as shown clearly. I presume that the Reel may have been mounted on a Rod at sometime but it shows no obvious signs of having actually been Fished with. The Box is showing its age but is still there and does the job. Up for auction we have a vintage AMERICAN Penn Spinfisher 9500 SS in near mint condition. The reel has no paint loss on the body or scratches. Just one barely visible mark on the spool sticker from sitting in a reel bag. I bought this reel many years ago new and used it as a spare reel on trips but never actually got used. It comes spooled up with 30pound Stren Mono. These reels have always been renown for there reliability and these vintage American ones are getting hard to find with the new Chinese ones on the market. These are a very versatile reel and can be used for surf fishing for sharks or mulloway to bottom fishing or trolling or even one for the collection. Buyer will not be Disappointed!
