Kenn's Wicker Leather-Trimmed Fishing Creel Made In Portland OR in the 1940's
My Dad bought this creel in 1949 for his Brother. I was six at the time and am now seventy. I have had it since 1955 when my Uncle passed away, I am now ready to pass it on to someone who can enjoy it as I have all these years. It has two places where the wicker has broken, one on the top and one on the bottom, they are shown clearly in the photos, I would think they could be repaired by someone who does that type of work. I have only seen one other creel like this on ebay and it went for $3,200, I am listing this one lower because of the small wicker problems. Thank you and good luck with your bidding!

Asian Fishing Basket (Creel) - Not a Snake Trap
A friend from Viet Nam knew exactly what this is- a fishing creel similar to those used in the rivers in her home town. Standing 14 inches high and approximately 11 inches wide. The reeds that extend inside the basket from the removable top nearly touch the bottom of the basket and work to keep live fish contained. There is some darkening of the basket on one side, and the loops used to attach the basket to a rope are broken, but still attached. A nice piece for your collection!

I got this at an estate of an Air Force Officer. There was stuff from all over the world. I don't really know too much about this. It looks old. It smells old. It's pretty tight and close to usable condition. I say"close" because. it does seem like it has sort of dried out and shrunk a little here and there. The netting is still fairly pliant and flexible. I think the netting is genuine old fiber or even hair. Looks like hair under a magnifying glass to me. Maybe horsehair- The opening of the netting is an iron metal ring that is slightly rusted and pitted but not rusted through anywhere. Most of the netting seems to still be fairly well attached and overall. I'd say the basketry is about 95% intact. If you want more photos or anything, just let me know. Buyer pays postage. Willow Wicker Woven Fishing Creel Basket- Leather Tackle Antique Strap Harness This listing is for a vintage creel fish basket. 1900 to 1950 era. It's in great pristine condition considering its age. This creel would display beautifully in the man cave. Home, cabin or lodge. The creel basket doesn't appear to have any broken areas nor broken or missing thread stitching. Look close at the luster of the basket in the photos. The leather lid hinge has a ruler or measure imprinted along the top which is in remarkable clear readable condition. The lid hinge is intact in the leather. There is wear and patina on the leather and shoulder strap. There seems to have been an added strap to the shoulder strap missing, maybe for accessories. There is some wear and stains on the leather. The front metal buckle is missing, but the buckle on the ... moreinterior shoulder strap can be used as a replacement if wanted. Vintage Herter's Fishing Creel and Strap
I bought this from Herter's Catalog in 1971 and used it several years. But not for many years since then. It has the original shoulder piece and hardware, a couple of small straps were replaced several years ago. There are some faded marks on top, to measure the fish by inches.The top is 6 X 10 in. cir. 30 in. bottom 5 1/5 X 13 in. 5 1/2 in. high. The creel is pretty solid, not perfect for sure, you could still use it no problem or clean it up for display. Please, ask if you have questions! Thanks!

Offered here is a lovely hand tooled leather trim wicker creel. It was made by the late Bob Greiger of Seattle. WA. It is in excellent condition with trout, eagle head and stars embossed on both the creel and leather strap. The number 3 is embossed on the back. The creel measures 13-1/2" across the bottom and 7-1/2" high in the front and 9" in the back. As seen in the pictures, there are 2 3"x5" snap pockets(also tooled leather) on the front. I do not know the history behind this creel. I am not a collector and obtained the creel as an art piece. It truly belongs with a collector or lover of fine fishing items. Iroquois Indian Vintage Fishing Creel Birch Bark Native American Fishing
This is a vintage Indian Fishing Creel that was purchased in Wisconsin. It was made by the Iroquois Indians. Perhaps from the 1920's to 40's. The creel is interesting as it is made from birch bark that has a decorated floral element along its side. I am not sure if this was scraped into the bark or not. Not quite sure how this process was done.You do not see this type of process done any more The creel mesures 9" tall by 12" long by 8" wide. The top is almost circular and is tight fitting. Some of the woven willow is missing from the rim. But it is still very solid and firm and does not effect the look of the beauty.inside. The bag has a few areas of material missing but it's sporadic, it doesn't affect the use of the bag. There's no label or manufacturers mark. It's a nice sturdy bag. Vintage LARGE "Polar Creel" - Soft 18 in. wide !!
Here is an older"Polar Creel" by DANCO(Danielson Co. This one is the larger. 18 inches wide model which, from our Ebay research, is not as common as the 14 inch model. When you catch that lunker, you'll be glad you have the bigger creel! This creel could use some cleaning or just leave it with its vintage look. There is some rust on the snap but it still works. The zippered pocket works great. it has four steel loops(some surface rust) you can hang gear off of. It comes with the nylon waterproof flap that keeps you dry when it's soaked to keep the fish cool. The strap is in very good condition- the adjustment buckles do have some some surface rust. The owner of the fishing camp retired and was selling his life long accumulation of hunting and fishing collectibles. I was told this creel was hand made by a old Maine woodsman.
